Seasonality of Births in Bighorn Sheep
Journal of Mammalogy, 1997Two populations of bighorn sheep ( Ovis canadensis ) in contrasting habitats at the same latitude were studied for 3 years to examine effects of climate and nutrition on seasonality of births. The number of births peaked during February and March in the Mojave Desert and during mid-June in the Rocky Mountains.

The Southwestern Naturalist, 2007Abstract Mining has been cited as detrimental to bighorn sheep (Ovis canadensis), but little research exists that has demonstrated those effects. We compared behavior of bighorn sheep while individuals were inside and outside of an active copper mine to determine if individual animals were altering their behavior relative to the active mine.

Social dominance in female bighorn sheep
Zoo Biology, 1986AbstractA group of six individually identified bighorn ewes (Ovis canadensis canadensis) in the Denver Zoo, Denver, Colorado, was studied to determine the existence of a dominance hierarchy. Using success in displacement interactions as an index to rank, a very linear, age‐related hierarchy was found.
