Bilateral pheochromocytomas

Bilateral pheochromocytomas most often occur as components of well-described syndromes: multiple endocrine neoplasia types 2a and 2b, von Hippel-Lindau disease and neurofibromatosis. We describe 4 patients with isolated bilateral pheochromocytomas; their tumors arose in the absence of stigmata and family history of the syndromes.

ABSTRACTBlepharochalasis is a rare disorder characterized by recurrent painless periorbital oedema, which leads to atrophy of the periorbital skin. Pathomechanism of the disease is probably immunological with a nearly complete loss of elastic fibres. The authors describe a 17‐year‐old woman, who was followed for 7 years.

The leading symptoms of bilateral vestibulopathy (BVP) are postural imbalance and unsteadiness of gait that worsens in darkness and on uneven ground. Bilateral Oedipism

A 20-year-old woman presented with self-inflicted pencil wounds to her bilateral orbits. CT angiography revealed penetration of pencils through optic canals into temporal lobes. Examination revealed bilateral no light perception, fixed dilated pupils, complete ptosis, and complete ophthalmoplegia.

Bilateral endophthalmitis after bilateral sequential phacoemulsification

An 81-year-old woman had uneventful bilateral sequential phacoemulsification using a separate sterile technique for each eye. Despite this, early culture-positive postoperative endophthalmitis developed. Management included bilateral intravitreal antibiotic agents, and the patient achieved an excellent visual outcome.

Bilateral Extrapleural Effusions Complicating Bilateral Pneumonia

In the case reported herein a patient developed bilateral pneumonia and septic shock and subsequently developed bilateral effusions. Chest roentgenograms, computed tomograms, and findings from analysis of the fluid within the chest were consistent with typical empyemas.

The incidence of malignant neoplasms in undescended or ectopic testicles is high. Hinman and Benteen1reported an incidence of 7.5 per cent in cryptorchids and stated that tumors occurred 20 times as frequently in undescended testes as in those normally placed.
