Thalamo‐Lesional Connectivity Signatures of Bilateral Tonic–Clonic Seizures in Focal Cortical Dysplasia‐Related Epilepsy

open access: yesAnnals of Clinical and Translational Neurology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Objectives Focal cortical dysplasia (FCD) is the most common etiology of drug‐resistant epilepsy in children. Focal to bilateral tonic–clonic seizures (FBTCS) mark a high risk of drug‐resistant epilepsy and involve thalamocortical circuitry in their generation and propagation.

A Novel SAR Image Despeckling Method Based on Local Filter With Nonlocal Preprocessing

open access: yesIEEE Journal of Selected Topics in Applied Earth Observations and Remote Sensing, 2023
Owing to the characteristics of long distance and strong penetration, a synthetic aperture radar (SAR) imaging system could provide ground information with high resolution under a poor climate environment.

Accelerated Bilateral Filtering With Block Skipping [PDF]

open access: yesIEEE Signal Processing Letters, 2013
We propose a method to accelerate Yang's real-time O(1) bilateral filtering algorithm, based on the observation that in the original algorithm, some of the computation can be strategically eliminated. To identify such computation, the algorithm steps are analyzed in conjunction with its recursive Gaussian filtering component.

Does Long‐Term Lower Extremity Strength Training in Adults With Knee Osteoarthritis and Varus Alignment Reduce Knee Joint Loading During Gait?

open access: yesArthritis Care &Research, EarlyView.
Objective We examined whether 18 months of strength training in individuals with knee varus alignment and medial tibiofemoral osteoarthritis (OA) reduced knee joint loads during walking compared to an attention control group. Methods This study was a secondary analysis of a randomized clinical trial that compared the effects of strength training to a ...

Mechanoluminescent HOF Nanotransducers Enabled Sono‐Optogenetics in Parkinsonian Rats

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
We present a mechanoluminescent system utilizing porous hydrogen‐bonded organic frameworks (HOFs) as a toolkit for focused ultrasound‐triggered, non‐invasive light delivery to the deep brain in rats. This approach enables the specific activation of PV‐GPe neurons in dopamine‐depleted Parkinson's disease rat models, resulting in a comparable alleviation

Microfabricated Anisotropic Myobundles for the Scalable Production of Cardiac Tissue Grafts

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Controlling the anisotropy of cardiac tissue remains an outstanding challenge in the field of cardiac tissue engineering. Here, we introduce an approach to generate anisotropic cardiac myobundles using cell‐adhesive, synthetic, electrospun fibers and stem cell‐derived cardiac fibroblasts.

Stable and Fast Geometric Exaggeration via Saliency-Based Bilateral Filtering on GPU

open access: yesIEEE Access
In this paper, we propose a GPU-based framework for reliably exaggerating the shape of a triangular mesh using mesh saliency and a boost filter. This framework is based on the high-boost mesh filter from digital signal processing, which affects the ...

Coagulative Granular Hydrogels with an Enzyme Catalyzed Fibrin Network for Endogenous Tissue Regeneration

open access: yesAdvanced Healthcare Materials, EarlyView.
Coagulative granular hydrogels are composed of packed thrombin‐functionalized microgels that catalyze the conversion of fibrinogen into a secondary fibrin network, filling the interstitial voids. This bio‐inspired approach stabilizes the biomaterial to match the robustness of bulk hydrogels without compromising injectability, mimicking the initial ...

Alternating guided image filtering [PDF]

open access: yesPeerJ Computer Science, 2016
Edge preserving filters aim to simplify the representation of images (e.g., by reducing noise or eliminating irrelevant detail) while preserving their most significant edges.
