Acute Bilateral Hearing Loss

The Neurologist
Introduction: Despite the involvement of the thalamus in the auditory pathway, hearing loss is not commonly recognized as a sequela of thalamic hemorrhage. Interestingly, only a few case reports in the literature describe thalamic hemorrhage as a cause of sudden sensorineural hearing loss (SSHL).

Outcomes of Children with Mild Bilateral Hearing Loss and Unilateral Hearing Loss

Seminars in Hearing, 2008
Studies of children with minimal hearing loss have included children with varying degrees of hearing loss, ranging from 16 dB hearing level (HL) to 44 dB HL. Because children with unilateral, high-frequency, and mild bilateral hearing loss have not previously been identified in the newborn period, it has been difficult to describe the developmental ...

Study on the Distribution of Hearing Levels in Idiopathic Bilateral Sensorineural Hearing Loss

Acta Oto-Laryngologica, 1994
The pattern of aggravation in hearing was investigated in 105 patients who were diagnosed as having idiopathic bilateral sensorineural hearing loss at the Hearing Loss Clinic, Department of Otolaryngology, Kitasato University Hospital. Audiograms were taken 1,069 times from the 105 cases over more than 3 years, and were used to obtain the distribution ...

Bilateral Evoked Otoacoustic Emissions in a Child with Bilateral Profound Hearing Loss

Annals of Otology, Rhinology & Laryngology, 1996
Recording of bilateral evoked otoacoustic emissions in a 3-year-old girl with bilateral profound hearing loss is presented. No component of auditory-evoked brain stem potentials was recorded. Findings on computed tomography of the inner ear were within normal limits. At retest 3 months later, these results were unchanged.

Sweet's disease and profound, bilateral, sensorineural hearing loss

The Journal of Laryngology & Otology, 2009
AbstractObjective:We report a case of Sweet's disease associated with rapid, profound loss of hearing, against a background of progressive, bilateral, sensorineural hearing loss. Results:The clinical features were indistinguishable from those of immune-mediated inner ear disease.
