Birt-Hogg-Dubé (BHD) syndrome is a cancer disorder caused by a pathogenicFLCNmutation characterized by fibrofolliculomas, lung cysts, pneumothorax, benign renal cyst, and renal cell carcinoma (RCC). In this case we describe a patient with bilateral renal tumour and a positive familial history for pneumothorax and renal cancer.

Microbiome‐blood–brain barrier interactions in aging — mechanisms and therapeutic potential

Aging reshapes the gut microbiome (↓SCFA‐producing commensals; ↑pro‐inflammatory outputs), shifting circulating metabolites (↓SCFAs; ↑LPS, ↑TMAO, ↑PAA) that act at the BBB to increase nonspecific transcytosis, alter transport, and promote astrocyte reactivity, heightening brain vulnerability.

Circulating microRNA signatures of cachexia and cancer in Canis familiaris as a comparative oncology model for human disease

Circulating microRNAs as biomarkers of cachexia and sex‐specific cancer in senior dogs. In 25 client‐owned dogs, four circulating miRNAs (miR‐15a, miR‐15b, miR‐16, miR‐140) were downregulated in cachexia, with miR‐16 the strongest individual biomarker (AUC = 0.899).

A Low Psoas Muscle Index Was Associated With a Poorer Overall Survival in Patients Who Underwent Percutaneous Nephrostomy

In patients with malignant ureteral obstruction undergoing percutaneous nephrostomy, sarcopenia defined by a low psoas muscle index was independently associated with poor overall survival on multivariate Cox regression analysis, suggesting that preoperative assessment of psoas muscle index may aid prognostic stratification in this population.
