Bilateral pheochromocytomas most often occur as components of well-described syndromes: multiple endocrine neoplasia types 2a and 2b, von Hippel-Lindau disease and neurofibromatosis. We describe 4 patients with isolated bilateral pheochromocytomas; their tumors arose in the absence of stigmata and family history of the syndromes.

ABSTRACTBlepharochalasis is a rare disorder characterized by recurrent painless periorbital oedema, which leads to atrophy of the periorbital skin. Pathomechanism of the disease is probably immunological with a nearly complete loss of elastic fibres. The authors describe a 17‐year‐old woman, who was followed for 7 years.

On the evolution of bilaterality
Development, 2017Bilaterality – the possession of two orthogonal body axes – is the name-giving trait of all bilaterian animals. These body axes are established during early embryogenesis and serve as a three-dimensional coordinate system that provides crucial spatial cues for developing cells, tissues, organs and appendages.
