Peribiliary gland damage due to liver transplantation involves peribiliary vascular plexus and vascular endothelial growth factor

open access: yesEuropean Journal of Histochemistry, 2019
Extrahepatic bile ducts are characterized by the presence of peribiliary glands (PBGs), which represent stem cell niches implicated in biliary regeneration.

Hydatid cyst of the liver which demaged the confluence of the hepatic ducts causing deep obstructive jaundice [PDF]

open access: yesSrpski Arhiv za Celokupno Lekarstvo, 2003
Complications of the hydatid cyst of the liver on bile ducts appear in 5-25% representing almost two third of all complications of the hydatid liver cysts.

Pancreas divisum. Correlation between anatomical abnormalities and bile precipitation in the gallbladder in seven patients [PDF]

open access: yes, 2016
Pancreas divisum is a genetic defect associated with recurrent acute pancreatitis due to insufficient drainage of the accessory pancreatic duct. Seven young patients diagnosed with pancreatic divisum and thickening of the gallbladder bile as shown on ...

M-Net: A Novel U-Net With Multi-Stream Feature Fusion and Multi-Scale Dilated Convolutions for Bile Ducts and Hepatolith Segmentation

open access: yesIEEE Access, 2019
Automatically segmenting bile ducts and hepatolith in abdominal CT scans is helpful to assist hepatobiliary surgeons for minimally invasive surgery. High-deformation characteristics of bile ducts and small-size characteristics of hepatolith make this ...

Management of an Accessory Bile Duct Leak Following Pancreaticoduodenectomy: A Novel Approach Utilizing a Percutaneous and Endoscopic Rendezvous. [PDF]

open access: yes, 2017
Biliary leaks are uncommon but morbid complications of pancreaticoduodenectomies, which have historically been managed with percutaneous drainage, reoperation, or a combination of both. We report a de novo percutaneous-endoscopic hepaticojejunostomy from

Patterns of Pathomorphological Changes in Acute Necrotizing Pancreatitis

open access: yesInternational Journal of Inflammation, 2012
Acinar necrosis is the basic microscopic sign of acute necrotizing pancreatitis (ANP). Microcirculation disorder is one of the major factors in the pathogenesis and morphogenesis of ANP besides free radicals and damage of enzymatic origin.

Histamine stimulates the proliferation of small and large cholangiocytes by activation of both IP3/Ca2+ and cAMP-dependent signaling mechanisms [PDF]

open access: yes, 2012
Although large cholangiocytes exert their functions by activation of cyclic adenosine 3',5'-monophosphate (cAMP), Ca(2+)-dependent signaling regulates the function of small cholangiocytes. Histamine interacts with four receptors, H1-H4HRs.

Tissue‐Stimulator Platform for Electrically Stimulating Pancreatic β‐Cells for Long‐Term Functional Regulation

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
We present a tissue‐stimulator platform for seamless electrode integration with pancreatic tissue, applying uniform electrical stimulation through optimized design with biohybrid 3D printing. Advantageous effects of electrical stimulation on β‐cell function were observed, including enhanced calcium signaling, islet morphology, and maturation.

Tutorial Review for Understanding of Cholangiopathy

open access: yesInternational Journal of Hepatology, 2012
The biliary tree consists of intrahepatic and extrahepatic bile ducts and is lined by biliary epithelial cells (or cholangiocytes). There are also peribiliary glands around the intrahepatic large bile ducts and extrahepatic bile ducts.

Biliary complications after liver transplantation: With special reference to the biliary cast syndrome and techniques of secondary duct repair [PDF]

open access: yes, 1977
In 93 consecutive cases of orthotopic liver transplantation, there were 24 examples of biliary obstruction and eight of bile fistula formation. Six of the obstructed livers developed biliary cast formation so extensive that the smaller intrahepatic ducts
