CT imaging of biliary enteric fistula

Abdominal Imaging, 1998
To define the signs useful for differentiating between gallbladder-enteric fistula (GB-EF) and common bile duct-enteric fistula (CBD-EF) on computed tomography (CT) because the prognosis and management of the two are different.CT scans in 13 patients with pneumobilia, who had not had surgical biliary-enteric anastomosis and endoscopic sphincterotomy ...

Multiple biliary enteric fistulas

The American Journal of Surgery, 1966
Abstract The subject of solitary and multiple biliary enteric fistulas is reviewed with emphasis on multiple fistulas. A study of case material over a thirty-three year period at the Presbyterian Hospital, New York, revealed twenty-six spontaneous biliary enteric fistulas in over 12,000 biliary tract operations.

Laparoscopic repair of various types of biliary-enteric fistula: three cases

Surgical Endoscopy, 2004
Biliary-enteric fistula is one of the reasons for converting from laparoscopic cholecystectomy (LC) to open surgery. Here we present three cases of various types of biliary-enteric fistula treated successfully by laparoscopic surgery. Two cases were diagnosed preoperatively, and the remaining case intraoperatively.

Biliary-enteric fistulas: report of five cases and review of the literature

European Radiology, 1999
Internal biliary fistulas (IBF) are seen rarely. Because the symptoms and signs of IBF are not specific and the diagnosis is not suspected, these patients are commonly investigated with plain abdominal films (PAF), ultrasonography (US), upper gastrointestinal series (UGIS), barium enema (BE), and computed tomography (CT), but not always with endoscopic

Mirizzi syndrome associated with gallbladder cancer and biliary-enteric fistulas.

American Journal of Roentgenology, 1996
M irizzi syndrome is a very uncommon condition in which a calculus impacted in the cystic duct or gallbladder neck causes extrinsic compression and partial obstruction of the common hepatic duct. The preoperative diagnosis is important because of the potential risk of bile duct injury at surgery.

Minimally invasive approach (robotic and laparoscopic) to biliary-enteric fistula secondary to cholecystectomy bile duct injury

Journal of Robotic Surgery, 2017
Spontaneous biliary-enteric fistula after laparoscopic cholecystectomy bile duct injury is an extremely rare entity. Y-en-Roux hepaticojejunostomy has been demonstrated to be an effective surgical technique to repair iatrogenic bile duct injuries. Seven consecutive patients underwent robotic-assisted (n = 5) and laparoscopic (n = 2) biliary-enteric ...

Spontaneous biliary-enteric fistulas; some considerations on the management of gallstones.

American journal of surgery, 1976
During the past ten years a diagnosis of biliary-enteric fistula was made in thirty-five patients. Six were entirely asymptomatic and another seven patients had suffered only mild symptoms for a short period of time. This indicates that the gallbladder can undergo recurrent episodes of inflammation to the point of fistula formation, with little or no ...
