Dynamic characteristics and adjustment of vibration isolators using the bilinear hysteresis

Proceedings of Higher Educational Institutions. Маchine Building, 2022
The paper considers dynamic characteristics of a vibration protection device with bilinear deformation diagram and hysteresis behavior as part of a system with one degree of freedom. Based on results of the numerical simulation of the system’s response to harmonic effects, the amplitude-frequency characteristics (AFC) of relative displacements and ...

Vibration of a Cantilever with Bilinear Hysteresis

Transactions of the Canadian Society for Mechanical Engineering, 1988
This paper presents a vibrational analysis of a two layer beam with weak hysteresis caused by structural damping between layers. Analysis was performed using the Krylov-Bogoliubov-Mitropolski asymtotic method. Qualitative results in the form of plots relating to free, steady-state and nonstationary vibration are presented.

Nonlinear Vibrations of Beams With Bilinear Hysteresis at Supports: Interpretation of Experimental Results

Volume 7A: Dynamics, Vibration, and Control, 2021
Abstract Several structures of important industrial relevance feature large-amplitude vibration, which can have an initially hardening or a softening behavior. Models with quadratic and cubic nonlinear stiffness terms are often used to predict the nonlinear dynamics of such structures. If boundary conditions constitute an important cause

Parametric Excitation of a Pendulum With Bilinear Hysteresis

Journal of Applied Mechanics, 1970
The steady-state responses of a simple pendulum with a hinge exhibiting bilinear hysteretic moment-rotation characteristics and parametrically excited by a sinusoidal oscillation at the base is given. The stability of the steady-state solutions is discussed.

Bilinear product Preisach modeling of magnetic hysteresis curves

International Magnetics Conference, 1989
The classical Preisach model has been unified using population dynamics, resulting in a bilinear product model. A practical numerical procedure has been devised for the calculation of the model parameters from measured magnetization data. Experimental magnetization curves have been analyzed by this method to obtain the material parameters and the ...

On Friction Damping Modeling Using Bilinear Hysteresis Elements

Journal of Vibration and Acoustics, 2002
Massless bilinear hysteresis elements are often used to model frictional energy dissipation in dynamic systems. These quasi-static elements possess only two describing parameters, the damper stiffness and the force at which it slips. Bilinear hysteresis elements capture the qualitative nature of friction-damped forced response, but sometimes have ...

ACTIVE CONTROL OF BUILDINGS WITH BILINEAR HYSTERESIS AND TIME DELAY

International Journal of Structural Stability and Dynamics, 2013
In this paper, an active controller for buildings with bilinear hysteresis and time delay is studied. The bilinear hysteretic model is treated as a stiffness restoring force. By using specific transformation and augmentation of state parameters, the equation of motion of the system with an explicit time delay is transformed into a standard state space

The Bilinear Product Model of Hysteresis Phenomena

Physica Scripta, 1989
In ferromagnetic materials non-reversible magnetization processes are represented by rather complex hysteresis curves. The phenomenological description of such curves needs the use of multi-valued, yet unambiguous, deterministic functions. The history dependent calculation of consecutive Everett-integrals of the two-variable Preisach-function can ...

Nonlinear dynamics of oscillators with bilinear hysteresis and sinusoidal excitation

Physica D: Nonlinear Phenomena, 2009
The authors investigate the transient and steady-state response of an oscillator with hysteretic restoring force and sinusoidal excitation. Hysteresis is modeled by using the bilinear model of Caughey with a hybrid system formulation. Stability and bifurcations of periodic orbits are studied using Poincaré maps.

Tuned Mass Dampers for Structures with Bilinear Hysteresis

Journal of Engineering Mechanics, 1996
A design method of tuned mass dampers (TMDs) for structures with bilinear hysteresis subject to harmonic excitation is proposed. Conventional TMDs fail to control a bilinear structure as the equivalent natural frequency of the structure diverges from the TMD natural frequency at the higher level of excitation.
