Analytical Floor Response Spectra for Performance‐Based Seismic Design of Non‐structural Elements in Reinforced Concrete Frame Buildings

open access: yesEarthquake Engineering &Structural Dynamics, Volume 55, Issue 6, Page 1292-1312, May 2026.
ABSTRACT Damage to non‐structural elements significantly impacts the seismic performance of buildings in terms of economic and functionality losses. Consequently, performance‐based seismic design of non‐structural elements has become a key pillar of a comprehensive building‐seismic resilience strategy, for instance, through loss‐targeted earthquake ...

Seismic Fragility Analysis of Containment Structures in Nuclear Power Plants Considering Alkali‐Silica Reaction

open access: yesEarthquake Engineering &Structural Dynamics, Volume 55, Issue 6, Page 1467-1487, May 2026.
ABSTRACT This study quantifies the influence of alkali‐silica reaction (ASR) on the seismic fragility of prestressed concrete containment structures in nuclear power plants (NPPs). Global collapse was considered as the governing failure mode to maintain consistency with current risk assessment frameworks, and was captured using a finite element model ...

Efficient Energy‐Stable Discontinuous Galerkin Scheme for the Non‐Isothermal Cahn–Hilliard–Navier–Stokes Two‐Phase Fluid Flow System

open access: yesInternational Journal for Numerical Methods in Engineering, Volume 127, Issue 7, 15 April 2026.
ABSTRACT In this article, we propose a novel numerical framework for the non‐isothermal Cahn–Hilliard–Navier–Stokes two‐phase flow system, which couples the incompressible Navier–Stokes equations, the Cahn–Hilliard phase‐field equation, and the heat transport equation to capture temperature‐dependent two‐phase flow dynamics.

Bilinear sparse domination for oscillatory integral operators

open access: yesAnalysis and Mathematical Physics
AbstractIn this paper, we prove bilinear sparse domination bounds for a wide class of Fourier integral operators of general rank, as well as oscillatory integral operators associated to Hörmander symbol classes $$S^m_{\rho ,\delta }$$ S ρ ,

Triggered Ferroelectricity in HfO2 From Hybrid Phonons and Higher‐Order Dynamical Charges

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, Volume 38, Issue 19, 1 April 2026.
We combine first‐principles calculations, LGD theory and group theory to demonstrate the mechanism of hybrid‐triggered ferroelectricity in HfO2${\rm HfO}_2$, enabled by trilinear and quadlinear couplings between stable polar and nonpolar modes. HfO2${\rm HfO}_2$ hosts unconventional interplay between structure modes where substantial contribution to ...

Design for flexibility: An adjustable robust optimization approach with decision‐dependent uncertainty

open access: yesAIChE Journal, Volume 72, Issue 4, April 2026.
ABSTRACT Flexibility is a crucial characteristic of industrial systems that face increasing volatilities and is therefore essential to ensure feasible operation under uncertainty. Flexibility is often closely tied to the design of a system, and careful consideration must be taken to understand the trade‐off between design cost and operational ...

Surface Functional Renormalization Group for Layered Quantum Materials

open access: yesAnnalen der Physik, Volume 538, Issue 4, April 2026.
This work introduces surface functional renormalization group, a powerful method for studying strong electron correlations at surfaces of layered quantum materials. Applying it to a 3D Hubbard‐SSH model reveals how bulk coupling reshapes surface phases, uncovering regimes of antiferromagnetism, ferromagnetism, d‐wave superconductivity, and possible ...

Enhancing Air Quality Simulations With Neural Downscaling Architectures

open access: yesAtmospheric Science Letters, Volume 27, Issue 4, April 2026.
We present a machine learning‐based framework for downscaling air pollutant concentrations from 6 km to 1 km resolution over Europe. The model accurately reconstructs fine‐scale PM2.5 and NO2 patterns across scenarios using a single, generalizable architecture.
