Evidence for a bimodal distribution of hybrid indices in a hybrid zone with high admixture [PDF]

open access: yesRoyal Society Open Science, 2015
The genetic structure of a hybrid zone can provide insights into the relative roles of the various factors that maintain the zone. Here, we use a multilocus approach to characterize a hybrid zone between two subspecies of killifish (Fundulus heteroclitus,

Language and Reading Progress of Young Deaf and Hard-of-Hearing Children. [PDF]

open access: yes, 2020
We examined the language and reading progress of 336 young DHH children in kindergarten, first and second grades. Trained assessors tested children's language, reading, and spoken and fingerspelled phonological awareness in the fall and spring of the ...

Role of Bimodal Water Retention Curve on the Unsaturated Shear Strength

open access: yesApplied Sciences, 2022
Changes in climatic conditions are expected globally resulting in a higher rainfall intensity and longer duration of rainfall. The increase in the rainwater infiltration into the soil contributes to many geotechnical issues, such as excessive settlement,

Effective therapeutic targeting of CTNNB1‐mutant hepatoblastoma with WNTinib

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
WNTinib, a Wnt/CTNNB1 inhibitor, was tested in hepatoblastoma (HB) experimental models. It delayed tumor growth and improved survival in CTNNB1‐mutant in vivo models. In organoids, WNTinib outperformed cisplatin and showed enhanced efficacy in combination therapy, supporting its potential as a targeted treatment for CTNNB1‐mutated HB.

Generalized Centered Binomial Distribution for Bimodal Lattice Signatures

open access: yesIEEE Access
In CRYPTO 2013, Ducas et al. introduced a bimodal discrete Gaussian distribution into the Fiat-Shamir with abort paradigm, proposing a signature scheme called BLISS, which significantly improved rejection sampling efficiency and reduced the number of ...

Weighted Gradient Feature Extraction Based on Multiscale Sub-Blocks for 3D Facial Recognition in Bimodal Images

open access: yesInformation, 2018
In this paper, we propose a bimodal 3D facial recognition method aimed at increasing the recognition rate and reducing the effect of illumination, pose, expression, ages, and occlusion on facial recognition.

ENSO Bimodality and Extremes [PDF]

open access: yesGeophysical Research Letters, 2019
AbstractTropical sea surface temperature (SST) and winds vary on a wide range of timescales and have a substantial impact on weather and climate across the globe. Here we study the variability of SST and zonal wind during El Niño‐Southern Oscillation (ENSO) between 1982 and 2014.

Overview of molecular signatures of senescence and associated resources: pros and cons

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Cells can enter a stress response state termed cellular senescence that is involved in various diseases and aging. Detecting these cells is challenging due to the lack of universal biomarkers. This review presents the current state of senescence identification, from biomarkers to molecular signatures, compares tools and approaches, and highlights ...
