Deep multi-telescope photometry of NGC 5466. I. Blue Stragglers and binary systems

open access: yes, 2013
We present a detailed investigation of the radial distribution of blue straggler star and binary populations in the Galactic globular cluster NGC 5466, over the entire extension of the system.

TRMT6‐Mediated m1A Modification of CDK9 mRNA Is a Dual‐Pronged Pathogenic Driver for HBV‐Related Hepatocellular Carcinoma

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
TRMT6‐mediated m1A modification in CDK9 mRNA enhances its mRNA stability and translation efficiency, thereby increasing the protein levels of CDK9. Upregulated CDK9 promotes the progression of HCC by elevating the levels of oncogenic factors including p‐STAT3, MCL1, and BCL‐2. On the other hand, CDK9 phosphorylates TARDBP at Ser254 to activate HBV core

Are Echinoderm Egg Size Distributions Bimodal?

open access: yesThe Biological Bulletin, 1997
Marine invertebrates can be categorized into species that reproduce by producing either large numbers of small, energetically inexpensive eggs that become planktotrophic larvae, or fewer, larger eggs with more yolk and lecithotrophic development (1).

The Ising Spin Glass in dimension four

open access: yes, 2015
The critical behaviors of the bimodal and Gaussian Ising spin glass (ISG) models in dimension four are studied through extensive numerical simulations, and from an analysis of high temperature series expansion (HTSE) data of Klein {\it et al.} (1991 ...

De Novo Multi‐Mechanism Antimicrobial Peptide Design via Multimodal Deep Learning

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Current AI‐driven peptide discovery often overlooks complex structural data. This study presents M3‐CAD, a generative pipeline that leverages 3D voxel coloring and a massive database of over 12 000 peptides to capture nuanced physicochemical contexts.

The Asymmetric Bimodal Normal Distribution: A Tractable Mixture Model for Skewed and Bimodal Data

open access: yesMathematics
We study a parsimonious constrained two-component Gaussian mixture with symmetric locations ±λ and unequal weights controlled by α∈[−1,1]; we refer to this family as the asymmetric bimodal normal.

Causal Prediction of TP53 Variant Pathogenicity Using a Perturbation‐Informed Protein Language Model

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
A TP53‐specific predictor, CaVepP53, is developed by fine‐tuning ESMC on experimentally validated variants, quantifying pathogenicity via Euclidean distances. It outperforms general‐purpose models and extends to five cancer genes, enabling interpretable variant classification for precision medicine.

The surprising external upturn of the Blue Straggler radial distribution in M55

open access: yes, 2007
By combining high-resolution HST and wide-field ground based observations, in ultraviolet and optical bands, we study the Blue Straggler Star (BSS) population of the low density galactic globular cluster M55 (NGC 6809) over its entire radial extent.

Biomimetic Ru‐Mn Nanozyme with Cascade Catalytic Activity Attenuates Secondary Brain Injury in Intracerebral Hemorrhage

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Ru–Mn composite nanozymes are engineered to mimic dual‐enzyme cascade catalysis, enabling efficient ROS clearance and neuroinflammation suppression. In collagenase‐ and autologous blood‐induced ICH mouse models, intranasal and intravenous administration reduced hematoma volume, preserved BBB integrity, and improved neurological recovery.

A Novel Bimodal Hydro-Mechanical Coupling Model for Evaluating Rainfall-Induced Unsaturated Slope Stability

open access: yesGeosciences
The soil water characteristic curve (SWCC) is a key foundation in unsaturated soil mechanics describing the relationship between matric suction and water content, which is crucial for studies on effective stress, permeability coefficients, and other soil
