Biomimetic Ru‐Mn Nanozyme with Cascade Catalytic Activity Attenuates Secondary Brain Injury in Intracerebral Hemorrhage

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Ru–Mn composite nanozymes are engineered to mimic dual‐enzyme cascade catalysis, enabling efficient ROS clearance and neuroinflammation suppression. In collagenase‐ and autologous blood‐induced ICH mouse models, intranasal and intravenous administration reduced hematoma volume, preserved BBB integrity, and improved neurological recovery.

A bimodal distribution of lifespan does not necessarily imply the existence of two subpopulations with respect to an aging marker.

open access: yes, 2013
If the link between this aging marker and mortality is non-linear, then a unimodal and long-tailed distribution can lead to a bimodal distribution of individual lifespans.

Learning of bimodally distributed quantities.

open access: yes, 2015
Previous research has shown that people are able to use distributional information about the environment to make inferences. However, how people learn these probability distributions is less well understood, especially for those that are not normal or unimodal. In this paper we focus on how people learn probability distributions that are bimodal.

Miniaturized Bidirectional Thermal Stimulation System Integrated With an Electrode Array for Recording Neural Activities

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
This study presents a miniaturized bidirectional thermal stimulation system integrated with an electrode array enabling real‐time, bidirectional modulation and simultaneous recording of neural activity through localized heating and cooling. By monolithic integration of the Peltier element and with a silicon neural probe, the innovative system allows ...

Study on Mechanical Properties of Electrodeposited Ni with Bimodal Distribution of Grain Size

open access: yes, 2012
The strength of the ultrafine-grained materials is increased with grain refinement, but it will also reduce the ductility. In the previous study, there are higher strength and better ductility for the copper with bimodal distribution of grain size.

The Asymmetric Bimodal Normal Distribution: A Tractable Mixture Model for Skewed and Bimodal Data

open access: yesMathematics
We study a parsimonious constrained two-component Gaussian mixture with symmetric locations ±λ and unequal weights controlled by α∈[−1,1]; we refer to this family as the asymmetric bimodal normal.

Toward Prostate Cancer Early Warning with a Self‐Powered Wearable Biosensing Platform Integrated with Machine Learning

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Current prostate cancer detection methods remain limited in non‐invasiveness and specificity, prompting interest in urinary biomarkers such as sarcosine. Here, we report a urine‐powered wearable platform for non‐invasive sarcosine detection as a proof‐of‐concept for decentralized early warning.

Harnessing Phase Separation for the Development of High‐Performance Hydrogels

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Hydrogels are indispensable for the development of next‐generation bioelectronics, soft robotics, and biomedical devices, where their mechanical properties determine performance and reliability. Among strategies to enhance hydrogel mechanics, phase separation enables controlled heterogeneity resulting in gel networks that are reinforced by ...

Data reduction typology and the bimodal distribution bias

open access: yes, 2017
Confronting low data reduction typologies, as established by using data from parallel texts, with the high data reduction typologies of WALS reveals a systematic bias of WALS typologies toward highly bimodal distribution.

Precipitation‐Modulated Harmonic Architectures Enable Superior Strength–Ductility Synergy from Cryogenic to Elevated Temperatures in Nanostructured Alloys

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Precipitation‐modulated recrystallization enables a programmable bimodal harmonic architecture in a high‐entropy alloy, delivering 1–2 GPa yield strength with >10% ductility from −196 °C to 700 °C. The resulting broad‐temperature robustness arises from the synergy of dual‐mode nanoprecipitation, harmonic core–shell topology, and temperature‐adaptive ...
