Disorder‐Driven Ionic Mobility Edge and Localization‐Driven Dendrite Formation in Solid Electrolytes

open access: yesAdvanced Energy Materials, EarlyView.
Migration‐barrier disorder localizes ionic transport into a sparse percolation backbone. Current and electric‐field focusing at filament tips promote fractal dendrite growth and suppress the critical current density according to jcrit = j0 exp(−σEeff/kBT).

Charting the Path to Increased Oil Palm Output in Ghana Beyond Area Expansion: Technology or Managerial Capacity — Which Leads the Way?

open access: yesAgribusiness, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT This study sets out to investigate the prospects for raising oil palm output in sub‐Saharan Africa, particularly Ghana, without further expansion of cropland. Given global concerns about oil palm's role in deforestation and land use change, the focus is on enhancing productivity on existing farmlands.

Mechanical Properties of electrodeposited Ni and Ni-Co alloys having bimodal distribution of grain size

open access: yes, 2011
The strength of polycrystalline materials increases with decreasing grain size. The increase of strength is usually associated with deterioration of ductility, especially for materials having sub-micrometer or nanometer in grain size.

U.S. Consumer Preferences for Cage‐Free Eggs and Hen Housing Policies

open access: yesAgribusiness, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Farm animal welfare (FAW) continues to be a divisive issue in the egg industry. In the United States, 10 states and most major retailers have implemented policies or voluntary pledges to transition to 100% cage‐free egg sales. We use best‐worst scaling and discrete choice experiments to evaluate U.S.

The Power of Unity: Collective Action and Smallholder Agricultural Performance in West Africa

open access: yesAgribusiness, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT We analyze the impact of collective action through farmer‐based organizations (FBOs) on smallholders' farm performance and income inequality in Ghana, Benin, The Gambia, and Mali. We find that FBO membership increases cereal yield in Ghana and The Gambia, legume yield in Mali, ruminant numbers in Benin and The Gambia, and total farm income in ...

Prevalence of MSI‐H/dMMR Colorectal Cancer in Japan: Data From the Clinical Study Group of the University of Osaka‐Colorectal Registry

open access: yesAnnals of Gastroenterological Surgery, EarlyView.
Using a multicenter Japanese colorectal cancer cohort from 25 institutions, we analyzed 1464 patients across all disease stages and tumor locations to determine the prevalence and clinicopathological features of MSI‐H/dMMR colorectal cancer. MSI‐H/dMMR tumors accounted for 9.4% of cases overall, were present in 22% of right‐sided colon cancers, and ...

Flow characteristics and regime transitions in fluidization systems of Group C+ particles

open access: yesAIChE Journal, EarlyView.
Abstract Fine and ultrafine particles are attractive for fluidized bed reactors because their high surface area benefits catalytic processes, but their cohesive nature complicates regime characterization. Nanoparticle modulation improves the flowability of Group C powders, yet their bubbling to turbulent transition remains unclear.
