This article presents dielectric elastomer switch (DES) materials, based on composite thin films. Alignment of graphite flakes due to their physical confinement within the thin films lead to much stronger piezoresistive responses than bulk composites, while their durability exceeds that of conventional liquid‐based DES materials.

Full counting statistics and phase diagram of a dissipative Rydberg gas
Ultra-cold gases excited to strongly interacting Rydberg states are a promising system for quantum simulations of many-body systems. For off-resonant excitation of such systems in the dissipative regime, highly correlated many-body states exhibiting ...

Bimodality of woody cover and biomass across the precipitation gradient in West Africa
. Multiple states of woody cover under similar climate conditions are found in both conceptual models and observations. Due to the limitation of the observed woody cover data set, it is unclear whether the observed bimodality is caused by the presence of

Electrical Control of the Transduction Channels’ Gating Force in Mechanosensory Hair Cells
The inner ear's hair cells rely on mechanosensitive ion channels to convert vibrations of their hair‐bundle into electrical signals. We show that varying the electrical potential (U) across the sensory epithelium modulates a key determinant of mechanosensitivity—the gating force (FG)—by modulating the gating swing (d), ranging from the size of the ...
