Design of binary logarithm generators
A design method is described by which a number x, in binary code, can be used to generate the binary form of log2x. Unlike earlier methods, this does not depend on an approximation to a linear relatioqship between x and log2x. The mantissa of the logarithm can be generated with an adequate number of bits, without undue increase in the complexity of the

A new binary logarithm-based computing system
An approximation of the binary logarithm log2 N of any positive binary number N is derived, and the design of a fast computing system based on this approximation is presented. The speed and simplicity of the system makes it a useful tool for practical real-time applications.

Computation of the Base Two Logarithm of Binary Numbers
An approximation to the computation of the base two logarithm of a binary number, realized with binary circuitry, is described. It is known that the logarithm can be obtained approximately from the binary number itself by simple counting and shifting. A method for the reduction of the resulting approximation error by a factor six is given.

Generation of a Precise Binary Logarithm with Difference Grouping Programmable Logic Array
The design algorithm of a differential group programmable logic array (DGPLA) to generate the precise binary logarithm function is suggested. It can reach an optimal condition such that the number of bits in a PLA is minimized, while the error is still kept as small as possible.

FPGA Design and Implementation of an Improved 32-bit Binary Logarithm Converter
This paper presents an improved 32-bit binary logarithm converter, which is optimized according to the characteristics of Xilinx Virtex4 series FPGA. The implementation in FPGA denotes that our improved method not only costs less resources but also has much higher speed. Meanwhile a novel and simple error correction method is proposed.

An algorithm to evaluate the logarithm of a number to base 2, in binary form
This algorithm evaluates, in binary form, log2N for a given value of N > 0 using steps which are easily reproduced by logic blocks. It is also possible to extend this to obtain 2x, the antilogarithm to base 2 of a given num ber x.

An algorithm for the computation of binary logarithms
The author presents a simple algorithm for the computation of the base-2 logarithm of a given binary number. The concept can be easily extended to base-N. Unlike other methods, this is not a curve fitting of the base-2 logarithm of a given binary number. The algorithm constitutes a simple step-by-step, bit-by-bit, computation of the logarithm of binary
