Al–Cu Composite Casting of Laser‐Deoxidized Copper: Bonding, Interfacial Chemistry, and Thermal Conductivity

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
This study investigates laser‐based oxide removal of Cu inserts in oxygen‐free conditions and examines long‐term oxidation kinetics and surface chemistry under different atmospheres via X‐ray photoelectron spectroscopy. Al–Cu compound casting with differently oxidized surfaces is performed, and intermetallic phase formation, morphology, and thermal ...

Investigation of Oxygen‐Free Wetting Behavior of Aluminum on Copper via Molecular Dynamics Simulations and Experiments

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
The wettability of aluminum droplets (Al) on different copper substrates (Cu), where liquid Al spreads on solid Cu surfaces to form a liquid–solid interface, is studied numerically and experimentally. The experimental and numerical results show good agreement in the fast‐spreading regime.

FLUIDIZATION BEHAVIOR OF WOOD/SAND MIXTURES

open access: yesMaderas: Ciencia y Tecnología, 2004
In conversion of biomass to secondary energy carriers, several routes are possible, such as gasification, combustion and pyrolysis. In many of these processes it is necessary or advantageous to dry the biomass before further processing.

Valorization of Fine-Fraction CDW in Binary Pozzolanic CDW/Bamboo Leaf Ash Mixtures for the Elaboration of New Ternary Low-Carbon Cement

open access: yesResources
This paper presents the characterization of a binary mixture of construction and demolition waste (CDW) and bamboo leaf ash (BLAsh) calcined at 600 °C (novel mixture) and the study of its pozzolanic behavior.

Irrigation treatments, water use efficiency and crop sustainability in cereal-forage rotations in Mediterranean environment

open access: yesItalian Journal of Agronomy, 2012
Agricultural systems based on crop rotation are beneficial to crop sustainability and productivity. Wheat-forage rotations combined with irrigation are the agronomic techniques best able to exploit Mediterranean environmental conditions.

Nonlinear Pattern Selection in Binary Mixture Convection with Through-Flow

open access: yes, 2001
The pattern selection problem in binary-mixture convection in an extended channel with a lateral through-flow is presented. The through-flow breaks left--right parity and changes pattern dynamics dramatically.

Surface Tension Measurement of Ti‐6Al‐4V by Falling Droplet Method in Oxygen‐Free Atmosphere

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
In this article, the temperature‐dependent surface tension of free falling, oscillating Ti‐6Al‐4V droplets is investigated in both argon and monosilane doped, oxygen‐free atmosphere. Droplet temperature and oscillation are captured with one single high‐speed camera, and the surface tension is calculated with Rayleigh's formula.

Research into the effect of heavy metals and their binary mixture on the cardio-respiratory system of fish larvae / Sunkiųjų metalų ir jų binarinio mišinio poveikio žuvų kardiorespiracinei sistemai ankstyvojoje ontogenezėje tyrimai

open access: yesMokslas: Lietuvos Ateitis, 2011
This article investigates toxic effects of heavy metals (Ni, Cu) and their binary mixture (Ni+Cu) on the cardio-respiratory system of rainbow trout (Oncorhynchus mykiss) larvae depending on the type of metal, metal concentration and the duration of their

Effect of ions on confined near-critical binary aqueous mixture

open access: yes, 2012
Near-critical binary mixtures containing ions and confined between two charged and selective surfaces are studied within a Landau-Ginzburg theory extended to include electrostatic interactions.
