Instability of a solidifying binary mixture [PDF]
An analysis is performed on the stability of a solidifying binary mixture due to surface tension variation of the free liquid surface. The basic state solution is obtained numerically as a nonstationary function of time. Due to the time dependence of the

Discrete Element Method Investigation of Binary Granular Flows with Different Particle Shapes
The effects of particle shape differences on binary mixture shear flows are investigated using the Discrete Element Method (DEM). The binary mixtures consist of frictionless rods and disks, which have the same volume but significantly different shapes ...

Background Social determinants of health (SDOH) contribute to JIA disparities, but most studies have assessed SDOH independently rather than cumulatively across individual, family, and neighborhood levels. Using a socioecological framework, we investigated the relationship between cumulative social disadvantage, neighborhood disadvantage, and JIA ...

The stability criteria affecting the formation of high‐entropy alloys, particularly focusing in supersaturated solid solutions produced by mechanical alloying, are analyzed. Criteria based on Hume–Rothery rules are distinguished from those derived from thermodynamic relations. The formers are generally applicable to mechanically alloyed samples.

Viscosity of Binary Mixtures [PDF]
IN a recent communication1, Mr. A. J. A. van der Wyk has presented a new formula for the calculation of viscosity of binary mixtures. I would point out that this problem has already been fully solved in two ways. On the base of thermodynamical considerations, the formula2 has been found, where denotes the viscosity of the mixtures, m1, 1, m2 and 2 the ...

Phase Transition and Volume Expansion in CO2-Expanded Liquid Systems
Binary mixtures of conventional solvents are very useful in the dense gas processing of pharmaceuticals. However, the lack of experimental data for ternary systems of organic solvents and dense carbon dioxide hinders the full exploitation of solvent ...

Dynamic structure factors of a dense mixture
We compute the dynamic structure factors of a dense binary liquid mixture. These describe dynamics on molecular length scales, where structural relaxation is important.
