Objective Body mass index (BMI), glomerular filtration rate (GFR), and pretreatment urate levels have been reported to influence the urate‐lowering response to allopurinol. We investigated whether the fractional excretion of uric acid (FEUA) also modulates this response and relates to oxypurinol concentrations.

Binary mixtures of chiral gases
A possible solution of the well known paradox of chiral molecules is based on the idea of spontaneous symmetry breaking. At low pressure the molecules are delocalized between the two minima of a given molecular potential while at higher pressure they ...

Critical adsorption at chemically structured substrates
We consider binary liquid mixtures near their critical consolute points and exposed to geometrically flat but chemically structured substrates. The chemical contrast between the various substrate structures amounts to opposite local preferences for the ...

The stability criteria affecting the formation of high‐entropy alloys, particularly focusing in supersaturated solid solutions produced by mechanical alloying, are analyzed. Criteria based on Hume–Rothery rules are distinguished from those derived from thermodynamic relations. The formers are generally applicable to mechanically alloyed samples.

Surface Transitions for Confined Associating Mixtures
Thin films of binary mixtures that interact through isotropic forces and directionally specific "hydrogen bonding" are considered through Monte Carlo simulations.

Viscosity of Binary Mixtures [PDF]
IN a recent communication1, Mr. A. J. A. van der Wyk has presented a new formula for the calculation of viscosity of binary mixtures. I would point out that this problem has already been fully solved in two ways. On the base of thermodynamical considerations, the formula2 has been found, where denotes the viscosity of the mixtures, m1, 1, m2 and 2 the ...

A numerical model resulting from irreversible thermodynamics for describing transport processes is introduced, focusing on thermodynamic activity gradients as the actual driving force for diffusion. Implemented in CUDA C++ and using CalPhaD methods for determining the necessary activity data, the model accurately simulates interdiffusion in aluminum ...
