On Complexity of Optimal Recombination for Binary Representations of Solutions [PDF]

open access: yesEvolutionary Computation, 2008
We consider the optimization problem of finding the best possible offspring as a result of a recombination operator in an evolutionary algorithm, given two parent solutions. The optimal recombination is studied in the case where a vector of binary variables is used as a solution encoding.

JayaX: Jaya algorithm with xor operator for binary optimization

open access: yes, 2019
Jaya is a population-based heuristic optimization algorithm proposed for solving constrained and unconstrained optimization problems. The peculiar distinct feature of Jaya from the other population-based algorithms is that it updates the positions of ...

Foaming binary solution mixtures of low molecular surfactant and polyelectrolyte [PDF]

open access: yes, 2006
The lifetime of water solution foams of sodium dodecylsulfate (DDS, low molecular weight surfactant) and sodium carboxymethylcellulose (SCMC, polyelectrolyte) and their binary mixtures was experimentally investigated.

ON BINARY SOLUTIONS TO SYSTEMS OF EQUATIONS

open access: yesPrikladnaya Diskretnaya Matematika, 2019
Summary: A solution is called binary if each variable is equal to either zero or one. It is well known that it is hard to find a binary solution to the system of algebraic equations in which the coefficients are integers with small absolute values. The aim of the paper is to propose an effective probabilistic reduction of the system to a new equation ...

Efficient Photodegradation of Dyes from Single and Binary Aqueous Solutions Using Copper(II) Coordination Polymers

open access: yesMolecules
The present study reports the application of three copper(II) coordination polymers, namely 1∞[Cu3L2(N3)] CH3COO (CP1), 1∞[Cu3L2(NO3)]NO3·2CH3OH·2H2O (CP2), and 1∞[Cu3L2(H2O)](ClO4)2 (CP3), where H2L stands for N,N′-bis[(2-hydroxybenzilideneamino)propyl]-

Enhanced adsorption of phosphate from aqueous solution by nanostructured iron(III)-copper(II) binary oxides

open access: yes, 2014
Phosphate is one of the main elements causing eutrophication and hence the development of high-efficiency and low-cost technologies for phosphate removal from water is of vital importance to alleviate the situation.

Studies on the Deviation of a Solution from the Hypothetical Ideal Solution with the Total Activity Coefficient

open access: yesMolecules
The total activity coefficient is exploited to study the deviation of a solution from the hypothetical ideal solution. It is proven for a solution that the curve of the total activity coefficient and all curves of activity coefficients of components will

Comparative Evaluation of Hemodiafiltration, Hemoperfusion, and Standard Hemodialysis on Efficacy, Inflammatory Control, Dialysis Adequacy, and Safety in End‐Stage Renal Disease: A Prospective Observational Study

open access: yesTherapeutic Apheresis and Dialysis, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Background Chronic micro‐inflammation in patients with end‐stage renal disease (ESRD) is a significant driver of cardiovascular complications and diminished quality of life. While standard hemodialysis (SHD) effectively manages small‐molecule clearance, its ability to remove medium‐to‐large uremic toxins—the primary catalysts of systemic ...

Rate adaptive binary erasure quantization with dual fountain codes [PDF]

open access: yes, 2008
—In this contribution, duals of fountain codes are introduced and their use for lossy source compression is investigated. It is shown both theoretically and experimentally that the source coding dual of the binary erasure channel coding problem, binary ...

Construção de um calorímetro isotérmico diferencial de alta sensibilidade e baixo custo Construction of a differential isothermal calorimeter of high sensitivity and low cost

open access: yesQuímica Nova, 2009
The high cost of sensitivity commercial calorimeters may represent an obstacle for many calorimetric research groups. This work describes the construction and calibration of a batch differential heat conduction calorimeter with sample cells volumes of ...
