Unsupervised non‐small cell lung cancer tumor segmentation using cycled generative adversarial network with similarity‐based discriminator

open access: yesJournal of Applied Clinical Medical Physics, EarlyView.
Abstract Background Tumor segmentation is crucial for lung disease diagnosis and treatment. Most existing deep learning‐based automatic segmentation methods rely on manually annotated data for network training. Purpose This study aims to develop an unsupervised tumor segmentation network smic‐GAN by using a similarity‐driven generative adversarial ...

Formation of Compact Binaries in Globular Clusters [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2001
We report here on two complementary population synthesis studies which relate directly to the formation and evolution of neutron star binaries in globular clusters. In the first, we compute the probability of retaining neutron stars in globular clusters, and quantitatively confirm the idea that the retention fraction for neutron stars born in binary ...

Dynamical origin of S-type planets in close binary stars [PDF]

open access: yes, 2018
Understanding the origin of planets that have formed in binary stars is fundamental to constrain theories of binary and planet formation. The planet occurrence rate in binaries with a separation $\lesssim 50$ AU is only $\sim$ one third that of wider binaries or single stars.

An Estimate of the Binary Star Fraction among Young Stars at the Galactic Center: Possible Evidence of a Radial Dependence

open access: yesThe Astrophysical Journal
We present the first estimate of the intrinsic binary fraction of young stars across the central ≈0.4 pc surrounding the supermassive black hole (SMBH) at the Milky Way Galactic center (GC).

Nucleosynthesis and Kilonovae from Strange Star Mergers

open access: yesUniverse, 2019
In this talk, we summarize the work in progress toward a full characterization of strange star−strange star (SS−SS) mergers related to the GW/GRB/kilonova events.

Evidence of blood–brain barrier dysfunction and CSF immunoglobulin synthesis in Down Syndrome Regression Disorder

open access: yesAnnals of Clinical and Translational Neurology, EarlyView.
Abstract Objectives This study sought to evaluate proteomic, metabolomic, and immune signatures in the cerebrospinal fluid of individuals with Down Syndrome Regression Disorder (DSRD). Methods A prospective case–control study comparing proteomic, metabolomic, and immune profiles in individuals with DSRD was performed.

Supergiant Binary Stars

open access: yesThe Astrophysical Journal, 1974
It is pointed out that the energy radiated by HD 101584 (F2e Iap) at IR frequencies cannot be convincingly explained by thermal reradiation from atmospheric grains. It is theorized that this energy emission can be explained by assuming that the F supergiant has an M supergiant companion responsible for IR radiation.

CSF cytokine, chemokine and injury biomarker profile of glial fibrillary acidic protein (GFAP) autoimmunity

open access: yesAnnals of Clinical and Translational Neurology, EarlyView.
Abstract Defining the CSF cytokine/chemokine and injury biomarker signature of glial fibrillary acidic protein (GFAP) autoimmunity can inform immunopathogenesis. CSF GFAP‐IgG‐positive samples (N = 98) were tested for 17 cytokines/chemokines, neurofilament light chain (NfL), and GFAP (ELLA, Bio‐Techne).
