Binary Neutron Star Mergers: Mass Ejection, Electromagnetic Counterparts, and Nucleosynthesis [PDF]
We present a systematic numerical relativity study of the mass ejection and the associated electromagnetic transients and nucleosynthesis from binary neutron star (NS) mergers.

On the universal outcome of star-formation: Is there a link between stars and brown-dwarfs?
(abridged) The recent evidence obtained by Briceno et al. that star-formation in Taurus-Auriga (TA) may be producing significantly fewer brown dwarfs (BDs) per star than the ONC is investigated by setting up a realistic model stellar plus BD population ...

Impact flux of asteroids and water transport to the habitable zone in binary star systems [PDF]
By now, observations of exoplanets have found more than 50 binary star systems hosting 71 planets. We expect these numbers to increase as more than 70% of the main sequence stars in the solar neighborhood are members of binary or multiple systems.

Decrypting cancer's spatial code: from single cells to tissue niches
Spatial transcriptomics maps gene activity across tissues, offering powerful insights into how cancer cells are organised, switch states and interact with their surroundings. This review outlines emerging computational, artificial intelligence (AI) and geospatial approaches to define cell states, uncover tumour niches and integrate spatial data with ...

The most massive progenitors of neutron stars: CXO J164710.2-455216
The evolution leading to the formation of a neutron star in the very young Westerlund 1 star cluster is investigated. The turnoff mass has been estimated to be 35 Msun, indicating a cluster age ~ 3-5 Myr.

Using multi‐omic characterization, we aimed to identify key regulators specific to squamous cell lung carcinoma (SqCC). SqCC‐specific differentially expressed genes were integrated with metabolics data. High expression of the creatine transporter SLC6A8, along with elevated creatine levels, appeared to be a distinct metabolic feature of SqCC.

The Electromagnetic Counterpart of the Binary Neutron Star Merger LIGO/Virgo GW170817. II. UV, Optical, and Near-infrared Light Curves and Comparison to Kilonova Models [PDF]
We present UV, optical, and near-infrared (NIR) photometry of the first electromagnetic counterpart to a gravitational wave source from Advanced Laser Interferometer Gravitational-wave Observatory (LIGO)/Virgo, the binary neutron star merger GW170817 ...

Improving the NRTidal model for binary neutron star systems [PDF]
Accurate and fast gravitational waveform (GW) models are essential to extract information about the properties of compact binary systems that generate GWs.

Polar Circumtriple Planets and Disks around Misaligned Hierarchical Triple Stars
Observations of hierarchical triple-star systems show that misalignments are common both between the angular momentum vector of the inner binary and the outer companion orbit, and between the outer binary orbit and a circumtriple gas disk.
