LDAcoop: Integrating non‐linear population dynamics into the analysis of clonogenic growth in vitro

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Limiting dilution assays (LDAs) quantify clonogenic growth by seeding serial dilutions of cells and scoring wells for colony formation. The fraction of negative wells is plotted against cells seeded and analyzed using the non‐linear modeling of LDAcoop.

Polar Circumtriple Planets and Disks around Misaligned Hierarchical Triple Stars

open access: yesThe Astrophysical Journal
Observations of hierarchical triple-star systems show that misalignments are common both between the angular momentum vector of the inner binary and the outer companion orbit, and between the outer binary orbit and a circumtriple gas disk.

The Orbital Architecture of Qatar-6: A Fully Aligned Three-body System?

open access: yesThe Astronomical Journal, 2023
The evolutionary history of an extrasolar system is, in part, fossilized through its planets’ orbital orientations relative to the host star’s spin axis.

Plecstatin inhibits hepatocellular carcinoma tumorigenesis and invasion through cytolinker plectin

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
The ruthenium‐based metallodrug plecstatin exerts its anticancer effect in hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) primarily through selective targeting of plectin. By disrupting plectin‐mediated cytoskeletal organization, plecstatin inhibits anchorage‐dependent growth, cell polarization, and tumor cell dissemination.

Massive double compact object mergers: gravitational wave sources and r-process-element production sites

open access: yes, 2014
With our galactic evolutionary code that contains a detailed intermediate mass and massive binary population model, we study the temporal evolution of the galactic population of double neutron star binaries, mixed systems with a neutron star and black ...

Compact radio emission indicates a structured jet was produced by a binary neutron star merger [PDF]

open access: yesScience, 2018
Merging produced a structured jet The binary neutron star merger event GW170817 was observed with gravitational waves and across the electromagnetic spectrum.

Tumour–host interactions in Drosophila: mechanisms in the tumour micro‐ and macroenvironment

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
This review examines how tumour–host crosstalk takes place at multiple levels of biological organisation, from local cell competition and immune crosstalk to organism‐wide metabolic and physiological collapse. Here, we integrate findings from Drosophila melanogaster studies that reveal conserved mechanisms through which tumours hijack host systems to ...

Using binary statistics in Taurus-Auriga to distinguish between brown dwarf formation processes

open access: yes, 2017
Whether BDs form as stars through gravitational collapse ("star-like") or BDs and some very low-mass stars constitute a separate population which form alongside stars comparable to the population of planets, e.g. through circumstellar disk ("peripheral")

GW170817: A Short Review of the First Multimessenger Event in Gravitational Astronomy

open access: yesGalaxies
The first detection of gravitational waves from the binary black merger GW150914 started the era of gravitational astronomy. The observation of the binary neutron star merger GW170817 and of its associated electromagnetic counterpart GRB 170817A started ...

The Complete Evolution of a Neutron-star Binary through a Common Envelope Phase Using 1D Hydrodynamic Simulations [PDF]

open access: yesAstrophysical Journal, 2019
Over 40 years of research suggests that the common envelope phase, in which an evolved star engulfs its companion upon expansion, is the critical evolutionary stage forming short-period, compact-object binary systems, such as coalescing double compact ...
