Binary Matrices in System Modeling
IEEE Transactions on Systems, Man, and Cybernetics, 1973This primarily tutorial paper on the use of binary matrices in system modeling also includes new material related to the initial development of such matrices. The decomposition of binary matrices into levels such that all feedback is contained within the levels is illustrated.

A ``Binary'' System for Complex Numbers
Journal of the ACM, 1965Computer operations with complex numbers are usually performed by dealing with the real and imaginary parts separately and combining the two as a final operation. It might be an advantage in some problems to treat a complex number as a unit and to carry out all operations in this form.

The system of representing quantities in multiples of ten probably goes back into prehistory. Counting in tens-‘decimal’ counting or counting to radix (or modulus) ten-comes naturally to a human being who has a total of ten fingers and thumbs on his two hands.

In this study, we consider binary systems with black‐hole components whose physical parameters are determined. In these systems, angular‐momentum (AM) loss via cool stellar winds is compared to AM loss by gravitational radiation.

Double Degenerate Binary Systems
AIP Conference Proceedings, 2011In this study, angular momentum loss via gravitational radiation in double degenerate binary (DDB)systems (NS + NS, NS + WD, WD + WD, and AM CVn) is studied. Energy loss by gravitational waves has been estimated for each type of systems.

Challenges in Stochastic Binary Systems
2019 11th International Workshop on Resilient Networks Design and Modeling (RNDM), 2019Stochastic Binary Systems (SBS) are mathematical models of multi-component on-off systems subject to random failures on its components. In this abstract setting, an SBS can model a network, an information system or the operation of an industrial automatic process, among many others.

Identification for Systems With Binary Subsystems
IEEE Transactions on Automatic Control, 2014Consider a stochastic system of multiple subsystems, each subsystem having binary (“0” or “1”) output. The full system may have general binary or nonbinary (e.g., Gaussian) output. Such systems are widely encountered in practice, and include engineering systems for reliability, communications, and sensor networks, the collection of patients in a ...

This book is founded on the belief that a computer scientist should know the intimate details of at least one computer. Experience has shown that this cannot be gained by looking into the computer through hundreds of man years of software, or by starting from circuit diagrams.

A self-organizing binary system
Papers presented at the December 1-3, 1959, eastern joint IRE-AIEE-ACM computer conference on - IRE-AIEE-ACM '59 (Eastern), 1959Any stimulus to a system such as described in this paper can be coded into a binary representation. A character on a piece of paper can be represented in binary form by dividing the paper into many small squares and assigning a 1 to a square if the character covers that square, and a 0 to the square if the character does not cover it.
