Clinical and Developmental Outcomes After 50 Years of Newborn Bloodspot Screening for Classical Galactosaemia in the Republic of Ireland

open access: yesJIMD Reports, Volume 66, Issue 3, May 2025.
ABSTRACT Classical Galactosaemia (CG) is an inborn error of carbohydrate metabolism. In untreated neonates, CG leads to a multi‐organ toxicity with life‐threatening symptoms. Newborn Screening for CG began in the Republic of Ireland in 1972. In Ireland, two forms of neonatal screening occur. High‐risk infants are fed lactose‐free/galactose‐free formula

Alfred Binet (1857-1911) : theoretical and empirical contributions to the study of intelligence. [PDF]

open access: yes
The myth that Binet's Intelligence Scales were created "overnight" has already been dismissed by Theta Wolf (1969 and 1973). However, it was felt that there was still more to be explained about the Scales.

The sequences of Fibonacci and Lucas for quadratic fields

open access: yesBoletim da Sociedade Paranaense de Matemática
We construct the sequences of Fibonacci and Lucas in any quadratic field $\mathbb{Q}(\sqrt{d}\,)$ with $d>0$ square free, noting that the general properties remain valid as those given by the classical sequences of Fibonacci and Lucas for the case $d = 5$

The striatum is an early, accurate indicator of amyloid burden using [11C]PiB in Down syndrome: Comparison of two radiotracers

open access: yesAlzheimer's &Dementia, Volume 21, Issue 4, April 2025.
Abstract INTRODUCTION Adults with Down syndrome demonstrate striatum‐first amyloid accumulation with [11C]Pittsburgh Compound‐B (PiB) positron emission tomography (PET) imaging, which has not been replicated with [18F]florbetapir (FBP). Early striatal accumulation has not been temporally quantified with respect to global cortical measures.
