Misspecification tests for binomial and beta‐binomial models

Statistics in Medicine, 2007
AbstractThe IOS test of Presnell and Boss (J. Am. Stat. Assoc. 2004; 99(465):216–227) is a general‐purpose goodness‐of‐fit test based on the ratio of in‐sample and out‐of‐sample likelihoods. For large samples, the IOS statistic can be approximated by a multiplicative contrast between two estimates of the information matrix, and in this way the IOS test

On the Conditioned Binomial Coefficients

Integers, 2011
AbstractWe answer a question on the conditioned binomial coefficients raised in an article of Barlotti and Pannone, thus giving an alternative proof of an extension of Frobenius' generalization of Sylow's theorem.

On Stabilizing the Binomial and Negative Binomial Variances

Journal of the American Statistical Association, 1961
Abstract Transformations for the stabilization of variance of the binomial and negative binomial distributions are considered. In each case a new transformation is suggested. These transformations are two-term inverse sine and inverse-hyperbolic sine transformations involving six adjustable constants, thus generalizing previous work of Anscombe [1] and

THE TRUNCATED BINOMIAL DISTRIBUTION

Annals of Eugenics, 1947
The articles published by the Annals of Eugenics (1925–1954) have been made available online as an historical archive intended for scholarly use. The work of eugenicists was often pervaded by prejudice against racial, ethnic and disabled groups. The online publication of this material for scholarly research purposes is not an endorsement of those views

Convolution of Binomial and Negative Binomial Variables

Communications in Statistics - Theory and Methods, 2015
This paper considers a distribution formed by convolution of binomial and negative binomial variables. The distribution has the flexibility to adapt to the model under, equi, and over dispersion. Some properties of the proposed distribution are discussed, including characterization.
