Agricultural Diversification at the Margin. Strategies and Determinants in Italian Mountain and Remote Areas

open access: yesAgribusiness, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT This paper explores the convergence in on‐farm diversification strategies of agricultural holdings, between remote areas and more central ones. Using Italian farm‐level data, we explore the determinants of diversification strategies across farms.

On Binomial Identities in Arbitrary Bases

open access: yes, 2016
We extend the digital binomial identity as given by Nguyen el al. to an identity in an arbitrary base $b$, by introducing the $b-$ary binomial coefficients.

Sustainability Strategies in the Cocoa‐Chocolate Value Chain: An Analysis Using Stakeholder Theory, Global Value Chain Theory, and Resource Dependence Theory

open access: yesAgribusiness, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT The cocoa‐chocolate value chain faces significant environmental and social challenges, driving firms to adopt sustainability strategies ranging from individual practices to third‐party certifications. This study investigates the factors associated with these strategies by analyzing 304 cocoa‐chocolate companies using firm‐level data from the ...

Parametric Integrals for Binomial Series with Harmonic Polynomials

open access: yesAxioms
Binomial series involving harmonic polynomials are expressed in terms of parametric integrals. By evaluating these parametric integrals, we establish several remarkable closed formulae for the infinite series containing both central binomial coefficients

On alternating sums of binomial coefficients and $q$-binomial coefficients

open access: yes, 2016
In this paper we shall evaluate two alternating sums of binomial coefficients by a combinatorial argument. Moreover, by combining the same combinatorial idea with partition theoretic techniques, we provide $q$-analogues involving the $q$-binomial coefficients.

Commutative rings and binomial coefficients

open access: yesMonatshefte fr Mathematik, 1992
Let \(R\) be a domain with quotient field \(k\) and let \(S(R)\) be the \(R\)- module of all \(k\)-polynomials mapping \(R\) in \(R\). It has been shown by \textit{G. Pólya} [Rend. Circ. Mat. Palermo 40, 1-16 (1915; JFM 45.0655.02)] that \(S(Z)\) is generated by binomial coefficients. \textit{G. Gerboud} [C. R. Acad. Sci., Paris, Sér. A 307, 1-4 (1988;
