Effect of Astragalus mollissimus on Ruminal Fermentation, Methane Production and Performance of Sheep

The effects of A. mollissimus (AM) supplementation on methane (CH4) production, volatile fatty acids, animal performance and nitro compound presence in blood were evaluated through two experiments. Results showed an CH4 reduction by up to 60%. No adverse effects on animal performance and no detectable nitro compound in plasma were reported.

Tick‐borne spirochetes of the genus Borrelia are maintained in enzootic transmission cycles involving wild vertebrates such as rodents. The genus includes the lyme disease group (LDG), transmitted by hard ticks (Ixodidae), and the relapsing fever group (RFG), mostly transmitted by soft ticks (Argasidae).
