Cyrene as a Bio-Based Solvent for the Suzuki–Miyaura Cross-Coupling
Synlett, 2017The Suzuki–Miyaura (SM) cross-coupling is the most broadly utilized Pd-catalyzed C–C bond-forming reaction in the chemical industry. A large proportion of SM couplings employ dipolar aprotic solvents; however, current sustainability initiatives and increasingly stringent regulations advocate the use of alternatives that exhibit more desirable ...

Improved synthesis of phosphatidylserine using bio-based solvents, limonene and p-cymene
Biotechnology Letters, 2014The bio-based solvents limonene and p-cymene obtained from citrus waste were innovatively employed as the reaction media for enzymatic synthesis of phosphatidylserine. (R)-(+)-Limonene, which is available in large quantities from citrus waste, and its close derivative p-cymene, are promising green solvents.

The Air Quality Impacts of the Bio-Based Solvent Cyrene
Solvents have long been recognized as one of the principal sources of waste from the chemical industry, particularly from fine chemical manufacturing.1,2 While neoteric solvents with minimal atmospheric impact such as supercritical fluids and ionic liquids show promise for some applications, most processes remain dependent on organic solvents.James D'Souza Metcalf +8 more

Effect of solvents on the curing and properties of fully bio-based thermosets for coatings
Journal of Coatings Technology and Research, 2016With the increasing concern about the depletion of fossil reserves and greenhouse gas emissions, it is desired to replace coatings which are made using petrochemical-based materials with renewable alternatives such as bio-based polymers. In this paper, fully bio-based thermosets for coatings were prepared from epoxidized sucrose soyate derived from ...
