Functionalized synthetic-and bio-sorbents for removal of inorganic and organic contaminants in water
D.Phil. (Chemistry) This thesis describes the improvement of sorption capacity and efficiency of synthetic and biological adsorbents towards selected pollutants by introducing functional groups on the sorbents. Functionalization was achieved by chemically modifying the binding sites of the studied adsorbents.
