Improvement of the Thermal Stability of Polymer Bioblends by Means of Reactive Extrusion. [PDF]
Poly(lactic acid) (PLA) and biosourced polyamide (PA) bioblends, with a variable PA weight content of 10–50%, were manufactured by melt blending in order to improve the behavior of PLA against thermal degradation. The effect of reactive extrusion on the thermal performance of PLA within bioblends was analyzed.

Intuitive representation of surface properties of biomolecules using BioBlender [PDF]
Abstract Background In living cells, proteins are in continuous motion and interaction with the surrounding medium and/or other proteins and ligands. These interactions are mediated by protein features such as electrostatic and lipophilic potentials.

BioBlend: automating pipeline analyses within Galaxy and CloudMan [PDF]
Abstract Summary: We present BioBlend, a unified API in a high-level language (python) that wraps the functionality of Galaxy and CloudMan APIs. BioBlend makes it easy for bioinformaticians to automate end-to-end large data analysis, from scratch, in a way that is highly accessible to collaborators, by allowing them to both provide the ...

Radiation Modification and Characterization of Polyvinyl alchohol/Starch/Citric Acid/Glycerol Bioblend Film [PDF]
Abstract The blending of polyvinyl alcohol (PVA) with starch with different content of citric acid as crosslinker and glycerol as plasticizer were performed by casting method. The hydroxyl groups of PVA and Starch react with the citric acid (1 %) and glycerol (10 vol %) to form crosslinked network. The FTIR spectral analyses show the successful

This study presents an effective and convenient approach to prepare blend films with enhanced mechanical and thermodynamic properties by incorporation of carboxymethyl cellulose (CMC) into quaternized hemicelluloses (QH). The structures and properties of films were analyzed by Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FTIR), X‐ray diffraction (XRD ...

Impact behavior of PLA/PCL bioblends [PDF]
The effect of adding polycaprolactone (PCL) on the impact behavior of poly(lactic acid) (PLA) has been evaluated. Bioblends (with and without compatibilizer) were prepared in a pilot plant (twin screw extrusion, 5kg/h) in different compositions. Impact testing was carried out using instrumented falling weight impacts at room temperature on plates ...

Sequencing the human genome began in 1994, and 10 years of work were necessary in order to provide a nearly complete sequence. Nowadays, NGS technologies allow sequencing of a whole human genome in a few days. This deluge of data challenges scientists in many ways, as they are faced with data management issues and analysis and visualization drawbacks ...

Use of BioBlender for all atom morphing of protein structures
Motivations. The vast majority of proteins and other biological macromolecules act in life processes through some form of motion. While this concept has been recognized and is ever more considered in the structural biology field, it is still difficult to handle by the majority of experimental scientists.
