Bioassay for monitoring biochemical methane potential and anaerobic toxicity
Water Research, 1979Abstract Techniques are presented for measuring the biodegradability (Biochemical Methane Potential—BMP) and toxicity (Anaerobic Toxicity Assay—ATA) of material subjected to anaerobic treatment. These relatively simple bioassays can be conducted in most research laboratories without the need for sophisticated equipment.

Biochemical methane potential of microalgae biomass after lipid extraction
Chemical Engineering Journal, 2014The anaerobic digestion of lipid-extracted Nannochloropsis at different substrate to inoculum ratios (SIR), biomass concentrations and after thermal hydrolysis pre-treatments exhibited higher CH4 production rates than its non-extracted counterpart.

Biochemical methane potential of vegetable wastes.
Journal of environmental science & engineering, 2008Anaerobic digestion of vegetable waste slurry carried out in the laboratory using 2.5L capacity bottle reactors for 60 days at ambient temperature conditions resulted in a biogas yield of 0.391 L/g of VS fed. The methane content of the biogas generated from the reactors was in the range of 67%-70%.

This study focused on the effect of hydrothermal treatment (HTT) on biochemical methane potential (BMP) of Chlorella sp. The BMP was in the range of 119.16-485.90 mLCH4/gVS, and increased by 80.31%-210.16% after HTT, while reduced 23.94% at hydrothermal treatment severity (HTS) 5.21.

Anaerobic Digestion of Vegetable Wastes Using Biochemical Methane Potential Assays
2013Solid wastes generation is a major problem in Mauritius in terms of wastes disposal with vegetable wastes representing 40–46 % the organic waste stream by mass. This study focused on the anaerobic digestion (AD) of vegetable wastes using biochemical methane potential (BMP) assays to assess the performance of AD processes in treating these wastes in a ...

Investigation of the biochemical methane potential of propylene glycol
2005Experiments on biochemical methane potential (BMP) have supplied information about anaerobic treatability of organic wastes. These experiments revealed that if the amount of gas obtained is higher than in theoretical methane production, the organic waste is biodegradable in anaerobic conditions.
