Thermal bioclimate analysis for Europe and Italy
Il Nuovo Cimento C, 2007Summary. -- Thermal bioclimate indexes (as thermal comfort or heat stress indexes) are one of the main issues concerning tourism and health conditions especially for expected climate change. The Mediterranean area and countries such as Italy, Spain, France, Turkey and Greece, whose economies are markedly dependent on tourism, are vulnerable regions ...

The bioclimate in temperate and northern cities
International Journal of Biometeorology, 1991Climate is a basic component of the human environment. Developments in building design and indoor climate control have contributed greatly to improving human health and comfort. By contrast, the possibilities for improving urban climatic conditions by deliberate planning have been poorly exploited. The structure and processes of the urban atmosphere in

RECONSTRUCTED HOLOCENE BIOCLIMATES∗
Annals of the Association of American Geographers, 1977Paleopodzols and frost wedge polygons in and near the forest/ tundra ecotone indicate that Holocene fluctuation of the forest border has varied from 280 km (170 mi) north to a minimum of 50 km (30 mi) south of the modern forest border in southwest Keewatin.

Bioclimate-Vegetation Interrelations in Northwestern Mexico
The Southwestern Naturalist, 2010Abstract In Mexico, the area from the delta of the Colorado River to southern Colima (ca. 2,000 km) is a transition zone from the most arid deserts of North America to tropical rainforests. Data for temperature and precipitation from 254 meteorological stations, along with field data, were used to analyze relationships between climate and vegetation ...

Archiv für Meteorologie, Geophysik und Bioklimatologie Serie B, 1962
A three-month survey of bedroom climate in the transition season from spring to summer in the Washington, D. C., area is presented. It showed nearly complete independence from outdoor conditions during the period when central heating was needed and windos were closed.

Problems in the assessment of the bioclimate for vacationists at the seaside
International Journal of Biometeorology, 1991In order to assess the value of common climatic information given to vacationists, measurements of thermophysiologically relevant climatic parameters were carried out on a beach in Italy and compared to those of a nearby official meteorological station. As an integral bioclimatic index the Physiological Equivalent Temperature, PET, was calculated.

Bioclimate of three varieties of oat
Agricultural Meteorology, 1976Abstract The bioclimate in plots of three oat varieties grown under three different water regimes (unmodified, drier, and wetter plots) was studied. The bioclimate measurements were combined with soil water determinations and growth and production measurements.

The effect of bioclimate on the communication system of night-flying moths
International Journal of Biometeorology, 1968Detection of moths and plants by infrared radiation (IR) is possible by night-flying moths. The thermal radiation emissivity of green plants is high (0.96) and that of a plowed field low (0.28). Four elements of the biosphere, temperature, atmospheric moisture, CO2 and O3 could hinder transmission.Corn earworm flight temperatures rise 3°C above ambient
