Biocomposite films based on alginate and organically modified clay

Sodium alginate/sodium montmorillonite hybrid films were prepared by casting from the suspension of sodium alginate and different clay samples. Clay samples had been modified with a cationic surfactant, a cationic polymer, and a small polar molecule, respectively. Benzethonium chloride, polyethyleneimine and urea were used as clay modifiers.

Biocomposite PBAT/lignin blown films with enhanced photo-stability

Lignin can be obtained as a byproduct during cellulose-rich pulp fibers production and it is habitually treated as waste or intended for low-value destinations. However, due to UV absorption and mechanical properties, lignin can contribute to the fabrication of biodegradable blown films with superior performances.

Biocomposite of a multilayer film scrap and curauá fibers

An important material for making composites is the scrap of multilayer films. Using plant fibers in these composites can further contribute to reduce their environmental impact. We prepared, by extrusion and injection molding, composites of this scrap reinforced with 20 wt% of curauá fibers.

Properties of Sago Starch-Nanoclay Biocomposites Film

This paper reported on properties of sago starch that was compounded with montmorillonite (MMT) nanoclay to form biodegradable composites film. The film was fabricated via film casting method with glycerol as a plasticizer. The investigated biocomposites film was prepared at starch-glycerol/MMT weight fraction of 90/10, 85/15, 80/20 and 75/25.

The formation of biocomposite films of the industrially important enzyme invertase and fatty lipids under enzyme-friendly conditions is described. The approach involves a simple beaker-based diffusion protocol wherein invertase diffuses into the cationic lipid octadecylamine during immersion of the lipid film in the enzyme solution.
