Novel Antifungal Scaffold Targeting Tubulin Overcomes Sclerotinia Sclerotiorum Resistance

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Addressing pesticide resistance, novel chromone‐acylhydrazone hybrids targeting fungal tubulin are synthesized. Compound G24 potently inhibited S. sclerotiorum (EC50 = 0.21µg mL−1) and demonstrated enhanced field performance via microencapsulation, offering a sustainable strategy against resistance and for global food security.

A Novel Protein Sourced from Chinese Medicine Residue for Golden Pompano Feed: Endothelium Corneum Gigeriae Galli Residue (ECGGR)

open access: yesAquaculture Nutrition
Fishmeal is an important protein source in aquafeed. However, due to the limited natural resources, fishmeal is in short supply, resulting in a price surge for fishmeal.

Genomic insight into the scale specialization of the biological control agent Novius pumilus (Weise, 1892)

open access: yesBMC Genomics, 2022
Background Members of the genus Novius Mulsant, 1846 (= Rodolia Mulsant, 1850) (Coleoptera, Coccinellidae), play important roles in the biological control of cotton cushion scale pests, especially those belonging to Icerya.

HMGB2–RAD21 Axis Promotes Fibro/Adipogenic Progenitor Proliferation and Regulates Fat Infiltration

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
This study constructed the first developmental atlas of embryonic skeletal muscle fibro/adipogenic progenitors (FAPs) and identified an HMGB2+ FAPs subpopulation that regulates FAP pool size and muscle homeostasis. HMGB2 directly targets the RAD21 promoter, and its knockout significantly reduces FAP numbers, thereby lowering the potential for ...

Comparative Assessment of Synthetic and Algal-Derived Astaxanthin Supplementation on Growth Traits, Lipid Homeostasis, and Liver Well-Being in High-Fat Diet-Fed Trachinotus ovatus

open access: yesAquaculture Nutrition
While aquaculture often relies on excessive lipid intake to bolster fish growth and cut feed expenses, this practice can also result in hepatic fat accumulation, inflammatory responses, oxidative damage, and immune system malfunctions in aquatic ...

Principles for Rigorous Design and Application of Synthetic Microbial Communities

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
SynComs are artificially designed to enable inter‐species metabolic interactions, metabolic division of labor, and ecological interactions that can elicit phenotypes like colonization stability and environmental adaptation. This systematic review explores the processes used to construct SynComs, the assessment of the mechanisms of metabolic interaction

Effects of Lysophospholipid on Growth Performance, Hepatopancreas Health, and Intestinal Microbiome of Litopenaeus vannamei in Low-Fishmeal Diet

open access: yesAquaculture Nutrition
A 56-day culture experiment was conducted to assess the effects of lysophospholipid added to a low-fishmeal diet on growth performance, hepatopancreas health, and intestinal microbiome of Litopenaeus vannamei. Three experimental diets were set up in this

Architecture of the baculovirus nucleocapsid revealed by cryo-EM

open access: yesNature Communications, 2023
Baculovirus Autographa californica multiple nucleopolyhedrovirus (AcMNPV) has been widely used as a bioinsecticide and a protein expression vector. Despite their importance, very little is known about the structure of most baculovirus proteins.

Higher‐Level Structural Classification of Pseudomonas Cyclic Lipopeptides through Their Bioactive Conformation

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Solution structures of a series of cyclic lipodepsipeptides from Pseudomonas reveal that these specialized metabolites adopt left‐handed alpha helical conformations of only two types, being either ‘stapled’ or ‘catch‐pole’ helix. The particular modular distribution of the biosynthetic gene clusters is found to determine the extent of their conserved ...
