Survey of biocrude-producing plants from the southwest
Economic Botany, 1982One hundred ninety-five species of plants native to the southwestern United States and northwestern Mexico were surveyed for potential feedstocks for biocrude production in arid lands. Biocrude is the hydrocarbon and hydrocarbonlike chemical fraction of plants which may be extracted by organic solvents and upgraded to liquid fuels and chemical ...

Liquid Fuels by Low-Severity Hydrotreating of Biocrude
1997Bio crude (fast pyrolysis oil from wood) was hydrotreated to minimize the negative aspects of this fuel. The instability of the oil was reduced by reaction of the most unstable functional groups. Concurrently, the oxygenated component of the oil was also reduced, resulting in an improved energy density.

RTP™ Biocrude: A Combustion / Emissions Review
1997The thermochemical conversion of solid biomass wastes to liquid fuels via fast pyrolysis is now firmly established with a number of research, pilot plant and commercial systems producing sufficient quantities for applied combustion tests. Biocrudes produced with Ensyn’s RTP™ technology have undergone characterization and combustion tests in flame ...

Biocrude and solid fuel from laticiferous plants
Biomass, 1986Abstract Stems and leaves of the laticiferous plants: Tabernaemontana divaricata, Euphorbia geniculata, Alstonia scholaris and Thevetia peruviana were studied for their biocrude contents. Acetone and benzene extracts of some of these plant materials were subjected to IR, 1HNMR and 13CNMR spectral analysis.

Biocrude from biomass: pyrolysis of cottonseed cake
Renewable Energy, 2001Abstract Fixed-bed pyrolysis experiments have been conducted on a sample of cottonseed cake to determine the possibility of being a potential source of renewable fuels and chemicals feedstocks, in two different reactors, namely a tubular and a Heinze retort.
