Impacts of the renewable energy transition on global plant diversity: A review

open access: yesPLANTS, PEOPLE, PLANET, Volume 8, Issue 1, Page 87-115, January 2026.
People and nature need a renewable energy transition to help address the growing, and catastrophic, effects of climate change. A sustainable energy transition involves rigorously examining the potential impacts on nature – including plant life – and creating pathways for impact mitigation that strike a clear balance between energy production and ...

Barriers to the cross‐border diffusion of climate change policies

open access: yesAmerican Journal of Agricultural Economics, Volume 108, Issue 1, Page 106-142, January 2026.
Abstract This paper establishes a statistically and economically significant relationship between national responses to climate change and genetic distance, which is a proxy for countries' dissimilarities in cultures, ancestry, and historical legacies associated with long‐term exposure to divergent historical trajectories.

Effects of extreme heat events on crop revenues for U.S. corn and soybeans

open access: yesAmerican Journal of Agricultural Economics, Volume 108, Issue 1, Page 176-203, January 2026.
Abstract Extreme weather events have nuanced implications for crop producers. While they can reduce local yields, widespread production losses often drive price increases. This study presents a panel approach that accounts for the price–yield correlation to assess the impact of such events on crop revenues, focusing on U.S. corn and soybeans.

Supply Potential and Cost of Residual Forest Biomass for New Industrial Applications in Sweden

open access: yesGCB Bioenergy, Volume 18, Issue 1, January 2026.
This work investigates the potential for logging residues (branches and tops that can be extracted during roundwood harvesting) to replace fossil‐based feedstocks and energy use in industry, using Sweden as a case study. To do so, this paper quantifies regional supply–demand balances for logging residues considering both current and possible future ...

Cu–Ce Dual–Atom Sites Embedded in Zeolites Boost Resistance to Impurity Interference for Environmental Catalysis

open access: yesAngewandte Chemie, Volume 137, Issue 49, December 1, 2025.
Embedding Cu‐Ce dual‐atom sites in zeolites enhances catalyst resistance to impurity poisoning for environmental applications. By implanting Ce into Cu‐SSZ‐13, we increase the relative proportion of P‐insensitive Z2Cu2⁺ sites by forming [ZCe3+(OH)2]+ sites in the 8MRs, while Ce sites preferentially bind phosphorus.
