Subsistence hunting shapes the spatial variation of jaguar densities in community‐managed forests

Jaguars and people can coexist in community‐managed forests, but distance matters. Plant genotypic diversity and defoliation jointly shape root exudation, fungal communities, and carbon and nitrogen cycling

Summary Intraspecific plant diversity is a major component of community diversity, yet its role in shaping plant–microbial interactions and soil functioning remains poorly understood. In particular, plant genotypic diversity may modulate ecosystem responses to defoliation, a key driver of ecosystem processes in grazed systems.

Bark‐associated yeasts and their potential role as tree carbon sink at the treeline of the southern Andes

In the southern Andes, Nothofagus pumilio shows elevational decreases in the concentrations of carbon reserves which are the food of bark‐associated yeasts, suggesting that competition for carbohydrates between tree growth and bark‐associated yeasts may cause carbon shortages.
