Organoid Brain‐Machine‐Interface Devices for Central Nervous System Repair

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
We envision organoid brain‐machine‐interface (Organoid‐BMI) devices as new biohybrid bidirectional communication pathways to connect the human CNS and the external world for personalized CNS repair and regeneration. ABSTRACT Central nervous system (CNS) repair and regeneration suffer from tremendous clinical challenges due to current limitations in ...

Prevalence of child malnutrition at a university hospital using the World Health Organization criteria and bioelectrical impedance data

open access: yesBrazilian Journal of Medical and Biological Research, 2016
Malnutrition constitutes a major public health concern worldwide and serves as an indicator of hospitalized patients’ prognosis. Although various methods with which to conduct nutritional assessments exist, large hospitals seldom employ them to diagnose ...

A Piezo‐Mimetic Ionic Hydrogel Harnessing Joint Motion for Cartilage Repair

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
A piezo‐mimetic ionic hydrogel converts mechanical deformation into bioactive ionic currents via stress‐induced asymmetric ion migration. Coupled with sustained Mg2+ release, this mechano‐electrochemical platform bridges mechanical loading and cellular signaling, enabling load‐adaptive stimulation and enhanced cartilage regeneration. ABSTRACT Articular

Body fat estimation using bioelectrical impedance

open access: yes, 2007
Background/Aims: Although childhood obesity is a major problem, routine assessment methods do not reflect fat mass. Body mass index, which is most commonly used, gives an indication of weight for height and not a degree of adiposity.

The influence of coffee consumption on bioelectrical impedance parameters: a randomized, double-blind, cross-over trial

open access: yes, 2022
Background Bioelectrical impedance analysis (BIA) is a widely used method for estimating body composition. Avoiding foods/beverages containing caffeine is a frequently enforced pre-test protocol to ensure reliability of BIA measurements.

A Millimeter‐Scale Implantable Magneto–Mechano–Electric Transducer Based on BTO Piezoelectric Ceramics for Remote Wireless Electrical Stimulation of Injured Sciatic Nerves

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
We report a fully wireless, circuit‐free neural stimulator built on a millimetric magneto‐mechano‐electric (MME) cantilever transducer (3 × 10 × 5 mm) with a barium titanate (BTO) piezoelectric ceramic core. Under low‐frequency alternating magnetic fields, the MME cantilever mechanically oscillates, inducing stress on the BTO element and thereby ...

Electrical‐Stimulation Hydrogel Electronic Skin for Sustainable Hybrid Biomechanical–Electromagnetic Energy Harvesting and Accelerating Wound Healing

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
A hybrid biomechanical–electromagnetic energy‐harvesting e‐skin is developed using a gelatin‐based outer matrix with a zwitterionic conductive inner layer. The e‐skin autonomously generates stable electrical stimulation from daily body motion and ambient electronics, enabling significantly enhanced wound healing bothin vitro and in vivo.

Methodology for integrated analysis of vector- and spectroscopic bioimpedance methods

open access: yesJournal of Electrical Bioimpedance
Electrical bioimpedance is based on the opposition exerted by body tissues to the passage of an electrical current. This characteristic allows the assessment of the individual's body composition, nutritional status, and hydration status.
