Electrode placement in neonatal bioelectrical impedance analysis

Medical & Biological Engineering & Computing, 1994
Electrode placement on one hand and one foot remains as the generally accepted method for the measurement of the total body bioelectrical impedance, although these anatomical locations have often been employed without regards as to their suitability in various populations. For measurements of BI in a relatively small number of infants, it was suggested

Data analysis in multiple-frequency bioelectrical impedance analysis

Physiological Measurement, 1998
The performance of three analytical methods for multiple-frequency bioelectrical impedance analysis (MFBIA) data was assessed. The methods were the established method of Cole and Cole, the newly proposed method of Siconolfi and co-workers and a modification of this procedure.

Role of bioelectrical impedance analysis in acutely dehydrated subjects

Clinical Nutrition, 1992
15 young healthy volunteers were studied to assess the reliability of bioelectrical impedance analysis (BIA) to determine body composition during acute dehydration. Body weight (BW), resistance and reactance measurements were performed before and 4h after a 40 mg intravenous administration of furosemide.

[Analysis of Bioelectrical Impedance for Identification].

Sheng wu yi xue gong cheng xue za zhi = Journal of biomedical engineering = Shengwu yixue gongchengxue zazhi, 2018
Based on bioelectrical impedance theory and pattern recognition algorithm,we in this study measured varieties of people’s bioelectrical impedance in hands and identified different people according to their bioelectrical impedance. We designed a bioelectrical impedance collection circuit with AD5933 chip to measure the impedance in different people’s ...

Bioelectrical impedance analysis revisited.

Lymphology, 2000
Although total limb volume measurements are used to track the progress of lymphedema and its treatment, these measurements can be confounded by changes other than fluid excess namely muscle or fat gain. Bioelectrical impedance analysis (BIA) is a technique that specifically quantifies both total body fluid and extracellular fluid in extremities ...

Body composition analysis by bioelectrical impedance

Medicine & Science in Sports & Exercise, 1988
Bioelectrical impedance analysis (BIA) was used to estimate body water and composition under both cool (14.4 degrees C, dry bulb) and warm (35.0 degrees C) ambient conditions in eight healthy adult men. The prediction equation provided with the commercially available instrument (RJL Systems) was used with the BIA measurements to estimate body ...

Bioelectrical Impedance Analysis What Does It Measure?

Annals of the New York Academy of Sciences, 2000
Abstract: Bioelectrical impedance analysis (BIA) has been proposed for measuring fat‐free mass, total body water, percent fat, body cell mass, intracellular water, and extracellular water: a veritable laboratory in a box. Although it is unlikely that BIA is quite this versatile, correlations have been demonstrated between BIA and all of these body ...

Applications of Bioelectrical Impedance Analysis: A Critical Review

1990
Tetrapolar BIA offers great potential for noninvasive assessment of human body composition because it is safe, portable and easy to use. Additional research is needed in clinical studies among patients in whom body composition and fluid status are impaired. However, appropriate reference methods are required to establish the validity of the BIA method.

Analysis of concordance between the bioelectrical impedance vector analysis and the bioelectrical impedance spectroscopy in haemodialysis patients.

Nefrologia : publicacion oficial de la Sociedad Espanola Nefrologia, 2012
The values of body composition provided by the two most commonly used bioelectrical impedance systems in Spain, single-frequency bioelectrical impedance vector analysis (SF-BIVA) and multi-frequency bioelectrical impedance spectroscopy (MF-BIS) are different and not comparable.Analyse whether the inter-method variability is due to bioelectrical ...

[Bioelectric impedance analysis in the diagnosis of malnutrition].

Zeitschrift fur Gerontologie und Geriatrie, 2006
Malnutrition is one of the most common comorbidities in the elderly. Despite several screening and assessment tools, the diagnosis can be difficult in some cases. In the geriatric population, classical anthropometry does not help very much. For that reason there is a need for further diagnostic criteria. Bioelectrical impedance analysis (BIA) is a fast,
