Bioelectrochemical system for recalcitrant p-nitrophenol removal
Journal of Hazardous Materials, 2012Bioelectrochemical system (BES) for recalcitrant p-nitrophenol (PNP) removal was investigated in this study. Effective removal of PNP at rates up to 9.14 ± 0.48 mol m(-3)d(-1) was achieved at an energy consumption as low as 0.010 ± 0.002 kWh mol(-1) PNP. PNP removal rate was enhanced with negative cathode potential, increased influent PNP concentration

Supercapacitors in bioelectrochemical systems
2019Bioelectrochemical systems (BESs) are devices composed of two electrodes: (1) an anode and a cathode and a (2) separator that can be a solid (e.g., membrane) or a liquid (e.g., electrolyte) [1, 2]. At the anode, the oxidation reaction occurs while at the cathode reduction reaction takes place.

Vibrational Spectroscopic Techniques for Probing Bioelectrochemical Systems
2016A more complete understanding of bioelectrochemical interfaces is of increasing importance in both fundamental studies and biotechnological applications of proteins. Bioelectrochemical methods provide detailed information about the activity or rate of a process, but in situ spectroscopic methods are needed to gain direct structural insight into ...

Microbial Competition in Bioelectrochemical Systems
2017Polymethoxyflavones (PMFs), especially Nobiletin (NBT) and 5-demethylnobiletin (5DN), have been widely studied and proved to have anti-cancer effects. However, their exact modes of action against cancer cells are not fully understood. Raman spectroscopy is a molecular vibrational spectroscopy can be used to measure overall biochemical function of ...
