A Scoping Review to Identify Clinical Signs, Symptoms and Biomarkers Reported in the Literature to Be Indicative of Biofilm in Chronic Wounds. [PDF]
ABSTRACT The objective of this review was to identify clinical signs/symptoms reported in the literature to be indicative of biofilm in chronic wounds. The Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Reviews and Meta‐Analysis extension for Scoping Reviews, and the Joanna Briggs Institute Evidence Synthesis manual guided review conduct.

Bacterial biofilms are 3-dimensional aggregates of bacteria that have been shown to play a major role in many chronic infections. Evidence is growing that bacterial biofilms may play a role in certain cases of recalcitrant chronic sinusitis that do not respond to traditional medical and surgical therapies. Novel therapies may have clinical applications

Comparison of the in vitro antibiofilm activities of otic cleansers against canine otitis externa pathogens. [PDF]
Background – Biofilm production by canine otitis externa (COE) pathogens and resistance development to multiple antimicrobials are commonly reported problems in veterinary practice. The use of adjuvants to disrupt biofilms may be a viable adjunctive therapy.

Background – In clinical practice, the diagnosis of otitis externa (OE) normally is based on otoscopic examination and cytological findings, followed by empirical treatment with topic drugs. Biofilm‐producing bacteria are frequently present in OE, even if its presence is often underdiagnosed. Hypothesis/Objectives – The primary aim of this study was to

Abstract Capillary biofilm reactors (CBRs) are attractive for growing photoautotrophic bacteria as they allow high cell‐density cultivation. Here, we evaluated the CBR system's suitability to grow an artificial consortium composed of Synechocystis sp. PCC 6803 and Pseudomonas sp. VBL120.
