Study on the Mechanism and Electrochemical Performance of Self‐Powered Cathodic Protection for Reinforced Concrete in Marine Environment

open access: yesCarbon Neutralization, Volume 5, Issue 2, March 2026.
A triboelectric nanogenerator‐driven self‐powered cathodic protection system, combining a polytetrafluoroethylene particle‐copper electrode with a buoy structure and energy management circuit, efficiently harvests wave energy to provide a stable direct current output, while markedly reducing steel corrosion current and potential in simulated marine ...

Potential Invasive Indo‐Pacific Acropora in a Coral Reef of Venezuela: A Contribution to Their Morphological and Molecular Knowledge

open access: yesEcology and Evolution, Volume 16, Issue 3, March 2026.
We report the first record of a non‐native hermatypic coral in Venezuela, exhibiting biological traits characteristic of invasive species. The coral is a member of the genus Acropora (Scleractinia: Acroporidae), native to the Indo‐Pacific. This non‐native petrous coral occurred in a reef of the Morrocoy National Park, in the southern Caribbean.

Microbial regulation of global macroalgal blooms (green tides): From holobiont interactions to bloom dynamics and biogeochemistry

open access: yesLimnology and Oceanography Letters, Volume 11, Issue 2, March 2026.
Abstract Green tides caused by Ulva species have become one of the most serious marine ecological disasters, now impacting many coastal nations around the world. Although climatic and environmental drivers of these macroalgal blooms are well recognized, growing evidence identifies Ulva‐associated microbiota as potential pivotal regulators of bloom ...

Environmental DNA‐based RPA‐CRISPR/Cas12a assay for on‐site detection of chironomid larvae in aquatic environments

open access: yesPest Management Science, Volume 82, Issue 3, Page 2458-2467, March 2026.
An environmental DNA (eDNA)‐based recombinase polymerase amplification (RPA)‐CRISPR/Cas12a assay enables rapid, specific, and on‐site detection of chironomids, supporting early warning, and ecological monitoring in freshwater environments. Abstract BACKGROUND Freshwater chironomid midges pose a significant threat to drinking water quality and ...
