The power of many: when genetics met yeasts and high‐throughput

open access: yesBiological Reviews, Volume 101, Issue 4, Page 1662-1682, August 2026.
ABSTRACT In recent years, complex technological capabilities have evolved, driven by the need to solve complex and integrative biological questions through global analyses. New equipment allows the scaling up and automation of processes which previously were carried out on a very limited scale.

Physiological Controls on Carbon Fluxes and Biomass Production in Miscanthus: Insights From a Process‐Based Agroecosystem Model

open access: yesGCB Bioenergy, Volume 18, Issue 8, August 2026.
Miscanthus productivity is governed by interacting plant processes from phenology and canopy development to carbon assimilation. Data‐constrained simulations reveal that photosynthetic protein allocation sets productivity potential, while electron transport capacity remains a key regulator of additional productivity gains.

Dehydration‐driven organization of metabolites into NaDES‐like assemblies in orthodox seeds

open access: yesNew Phytologist, Volume 251, Issue 3, Page 1172-1187, August 2026.
Summary Desiccation tolerance in plants, especially during orthodox seed dehydration, relies on compatible solute accumulation, complex molecular mechanisms, and intermolecular organizations that remain poorly understood. We combined metabolite profiling, mass spectrometry imaging, and electrospray and cold‐spray ionization mass spectrometry to ...

Struvite Production From Wastewater: Effect of Magnesium‐to‐Ammonia Ratio and Stirring Velocity on Precipitation Efficiency and Settling Behavior

open access: yesCLEAN – Soil, Air, Water, Volume 54, Issue 7, July 2026.
This study demonstrates that stoichiometric Mg2+:PO43− excess (1.1:1) and slow 10‐min dosing are critical for maintaining low supersaturation, yielding large crystals (>0.84 mm) and rapid settling (5.5–10.1 cm/min). This strategy optimizes nutrient recovery (≥80%) and solid–liquid separation without flocculants, proving viable for complex industrial ...

A Step‐by‐Step Protocol From METASPACE to Biological Interpretation

open access: yesJournal of Mass Spectrometry, Volume 61, Issue 7, July 2026.
ABSTRACT Mass spectrometry imaging (MSI) represents an exceptional tool for exploring complex biological systems spatially at the molecular level. However, its multidimensional nature and large data outputs make it challenging to extract meaningful biological insights. Advancements such as the METASPACE platform allow researchers to efficiently process,
