Review on Synthesis Methods of Carbon Nanotubes as Activated Carbon Composites Based on Biomass for Supercapacitors in Electric Vehicles

open access: yesEnergy Technology, EarlyView.
This work reviews various methods to synthesize carbon nanotubes and analyzes the best methods to produce composites for supercapacitors for electric vehicles. Chemical vapor deposition is found to be the best method because the produced CNTs can be used directly without purification unless the catalyst particles need to be removed.

Greenhouse gas emissions from the global transportation of crude oil: Current status and mitigation potential

open access: yesJournal of Industrial Ecology, Volume 26, Issue 6, Page 2045-2056, December 2022., 2022
Abstract Global crude‐oil transportation contributes a significant portion of greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions in the marine transportation sector. In this work, we first compile a detailed country‐level global crude‐oil transportation network in 2018 and estimate that the direct and well‐to‐hull GHG emissions related to crude transportation were 97 and ...

We, campesinos: The potentials and pitfalls of agrarian populism in Colombia's agrarian strike

open access: yesJournal of Agrarian Change, Volume 23, Issue 1, Page 131-148, January 2023., 2023
Abstract This contribution aims to explore the potentials and pitfalls for the emergence of a popular agrarian movement capable of offering a progressive alternative to the far‐right. Taking the case of Colombia's national agrarian strike, the paper argues that food sovereignty can offer a mobilizing framework for a multiclass, antineoliberal agrarian ...

Undersown catch crops as a source of biomass for energy [PDF]

open access: yes, 2007
Italian ryegrass would need an additional nitrogen fertilizer application after cereal harvest to achieve its full yield potential. Use of legumes as undersown crops might be better in energy balance point of view.

Minimizing Carbon Capture Costs in Power Plants: A Novel Dimensional Analysis Framework for Techno‐Economic Evaluation of Oxyfuel Combustion, Pre‐combustion, and Post‐combustion Capture Systems

open access: yesEnergy Science &Engineering, EarlyView.
Power generation plants contribute approximately 40% of global CO2 emissions, necessitating the development of carbon capture, utilization, and storage (CCUS) technologies. This study evaluates the technical and economic viability of pre‐combustion, post‐combustion, and oxy‐fuel combustion CO2 capture methods integrated with natural gas power plants ...
