Improving Oxygen Barrier Performance of Polylactide Film by Using Bleached and Unbleached Nanocellulose From Grape Pomace

open access: yesJournal of Applied Polymer Science, EarlyView.
Bleached and unbleached nanocelluloses were produced from the exhausted grape pomace and applied as coatings on PLA substrates for sustainable food packaging. Unbleached nanocelluloses were more hydrophobic and amorphous than bleached ones. The resulting bio‐based bleached nanocellulose‐coated PLA films showed a 68% reduction in O2 permeability ...

The Study of Rice Husk as Co-Digestion Together with Cow Dung is Biogas Production of Anaerobic Digester

open access: yesE3S Web of Conferences, 2018
One of alternative waste-to-energy technologies to treat organic waste is anaerobic digestion. This study conducted by three stage of experiments using the laboratory scale biogas production from cow dung and rice husk as co-digestion. Based on the first

Combined effect of increasing the post‐reformer temperature and adding red mud as a secondary catalyst in the thermocatalytic reforming of digestate

open access: yesBiofuels, Bioproducts and Biorefining, EarlyView.
Abstract This work studies the combined effect of increasing the post‐reformer temperature and introducing red mud as a support catalyst in the thermocatalytic reforming (TCR®) of digestate. The TCR® method, developed by the Fraunhofer Institute for Environmental, Safety and Energy Technology UMSICHT (abbreviated as Fraunhofer UMSICHT), is an extension

Biogas production experimental research using algae [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of Environmental Health Science and Engineering, 2015
Abstract The current study is on the the use of macro-algae as feedstock for biogas production. Three types of macro-algae, Cladophora glomerata (CG), Chara fragilis (CF), and Spirogyra neglecta (SN), were chosen for this research. The experimental studies on biogas production were carried out with these algae in a batch bioreactor.

Volumetric mass transfer and dilution rate as key parameters for sustainable industrial syngas fermentation to isopropyl alcohol: modeling and parametric assessment

open access: yesBiofuels, Bioproducts and Biorefining, EarlyView.
Abstract Synthesis gas fermentation is a promising route for the valorization of steel mill off‐gas and for replacing conventional fossil‐based isopropyl alcohol (IPA) production. A recent 120 L pilot‐scale study reported 85% gas conversion at 90% product selectivity and claimed a negative global warming potential (GWP) without detailed process design.
