Technologies, challenges and perspectives of biogas production within an agricultural context. The case of China and Africa

open access: yesEnvironment, Development and Sustainability, 2021
The use of fossil fuels in modern economies has been a success because of the low cost of fossil resources. However, the depletion of fossil reserves, the increase in waste production and global warming concerns have led to increased research on the ...

Climate‐Smart Dairy Practices: The Role of Practice Clusters in Enhancing the Performance of Dairy Farms in Kenya

open access: yesAgribusiness, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Climate variability is affecting the productivity, profitability, and resilience of smallholder dairy producers in developing countries. The adoption of climate‐smart (CS) dairy practices has been promoted to mitigate these negative effects. However, while interest in dairy CS practices is growing, empirical evidence on their adoption patterns

Prediction of slurry operating temperature and biogas production rate using ambient temperature forecast as input parameter for underground brick-built biogas digesters

open access: yesCogent Engineering, 2022
The operational temperature of the biogas digester is the most critical parameter for optimum biogas production. Most household digesters are operated at ambient temperatures throughout the year.

Microbial Biogas Production from Pork Gelatine [PDF]

open access: yesHydrogen, 2021
This research describes the results of the anaerobic digestion of gelatine as a potential hydrogen source with heat-shocked inoculum. The concentrations of applied gelatine were of VSS (volatile suspended solids) ranging from 10 g VSS/L to 30 g VSS/L. The initial process pH was 5.5, and, depending on the concentration, reached pH values from 7.5 to 7.8

Consumers' Willingness to Pay a Premium for Climate‐Friendly Food Production: The Role of Production Method Information and Social Norms

open access: yesAgribusiness, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT This study examines whether information about production methods and social norms can increase consumers' willingness to pay (WTP) a price premium for food produced using climate‐friendly farming methods. A randomized survey experiment was conducted with 1568 respondents across Denmark, Lithuania, and Spain, who were assigned to one of four ...

Sicilian potential biogas production

open access: yesJournal of Agricultural Engineering, 2013
This study is aimed at predicting the Sicilian potential biogas production, using the Organic Fraction of Municipal Solid Waste (OFMSW), animal manure and food industry by-products, in a region where only one biogas plant using MSW and one co-digestion plant are nowadays available.
