A Cotton Laccase Confers Disease Resistance Against Verticillium dahliae by Promoting Cell Wall Lignification

open access: yesMolecular Plant Pathology, Volume 26, Issue 7, July 2025.
Upon V. dahliae infection, cotton enhances resistance by upregulating lignin synthesis genes and oxidising lignin monomers via laccase GhLAC14‐3 and GhMAPKKK2 to form lignin and lignify cell walls. ABSTRACT Verticillium wilt (VW), caused primarily by Verticillium dahliae, is a significant threat to cotton production.

Plant mycorrhizal status indicates partner selectivity in arbuscular mycorrhizal interaction networks

open access: yesFunctional Ecology, Volume 39, Issue 6, Page 1358-1368, June 2025.
Read the free Plain Language Summary for this article on the Journal blog. Abstract Mycorrhizal symbiosis, specifically arbuscular mycorrhiza, is one of Earth's oldest and most widespread symbiosis. Existing evidence suggests that plant species differ in their associations with mycorrhizal partners, with different species reported to be always ...

Cholesterol Targeted Catalytic Hydrogel Fueled by Tumor Debris can Enhance Microwave Ablation Therapy and Anti‐Tumor Immune Response

open access: yesAdvanced Science, Volume 12, Issue 5, February 3, 2025.
This research introduces a cholesterol‐targeted catalytic hydrogel (DA‐COD‐OD‐HCS) designed to enhance microwave ablation (MWA) therapy and antitumor immunity in hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC). Using cholesterol from tumor debris as fuel, the hydrogel facilitates ferroptosis, reshapes the tumor microenvironment, and promotes the effectiveness of immune

Capture of Totipotency in Mouse Embryonic Stem Cells in the Absence of Pdzk1

open access: yesAdvanced Science, Volume 12, Issue 6, February 10, 2025.
This work provides a new strategy to capture totipotency in ESCs by deletion of Pdzk1. Pdzk1‐null ESCs can integrate to fetus, placenta, and yolk sac tissues easily in chimera experiment, and also can self‐organize to form blastocyst‐like structures efficiently. The developmental potentials of Pdzk1‐KO ESCs are mainly through up‐regulating some lineage
