Assessing Vulnerability of Relevant Sites for Amphibian Conservation Through Spatiotemporal Analyses of Global Change Factors in Europe

open access: yesEarth's Future, Volume 13, Issue 9, September 2025.
Abstract Amphibians are among the most imperiled vertebrates, threatened by habitat loss and climate change. Despite significant advances in our understanding of these species, there remains a critical gap in identifying the most urgent areas for conservation, especially considering their distinct taxonomic and conservation statuses.

Knowledge from non‐English‐language studies broadens contributions to conservation policy and helps to tackle bias in biodiversity data

open access: yesJournal of Applied Ecology, Volume 62, Issue 9, Page 2148-2162, September 2025.
Collecting data from local sources markedly further strengthens global biodiversity databases by adding species not previously included in international datasets. Furthermore, the addition of these data helps to understand spatial and temporal biases that potentially influence abundance trends at both national and global levels.

Squamata (Reptilia) de quatro localidades da Amazônia meridional, com uma análise biogeográfica dos lagartos amazônicos

open access: yesBoletim do Museu Paraense Emílio Goeldi. Ciências Naturais, 2009
Estuda-se a fauna de répteis Squamata de quatro localidades da Amazônia meridional brasileira, comparando-as entre si e, com relação aos lagartos, com outras nove áreas bem amostradas de toda a Amazônia.

Limited evidence of biodiversity spillover from forest fragments into oil palm plantations in the Amazon

open access: yesJournal of Applied Ecology, Volume 62, Issue 8, Page 1939-1952, August 2025.
Converting primary forest into oil palm plantations results in substantial biodiversity losses, highlighting the urgent need to preserve the few remaining large forest fragments in the area. Measures that enhance matrix permeability are essential to conserving the evolutionary and functional integrity of Amazonian landscapes and mitigating the negative

Plate motions, Gondwana Dinosaurs, Noah's Arks, Beached Viking Funeral Ships, Ghost Ships, and Landspans

open access: yesAnais da Academia Brasileira de Ciências, 2011
Gondwana landmasses have served as large-scale biogeographic Noah's Arks and Beached Viking Funeral Ships, as defined by McKenna. The latitudinal trajectories of selected Gondwana dinosaur localities were traced through time in order to evaluate their ...

Effectiveness of Key Biodiversity Areas in representing global avian diversity

open access: yesConservation Biology, Volume 39, Issue 4, August 2025.
Abstract Key Biodiversity Areas (KBAs) are the largest and most complete network of significant sites for the global persistence of biodiversity. Although important sites for birds worldwide have been relatively well assessed, a key question is how effectively the global KBA network represents avian diversity.

Phylogenomic approach to integrative taxonomy resolves a century‐old taxonomic puzzle and the evolutionary history of the Acromyrmex octospinosus species complex

open access: yesSystematic Entomology, Volume 50, Issue 3, Page 469-494, July 2025.
A comprehensive, integrative study approach combining morphology, population genetics, phylogenetics and biogeography revealed that the Acromyrmex octospinosus species complex consists of two species: A. octospinosus and its social parasite A. insinuator.
