A new species of Rotala, viz. R. myanmarensis is described from Myanmar. It is characterized by 4‐merous flowers, lanceolate petals, linear‐ligulate nectary glands, and ovate seeds. Additionally, R. occultiflora var. leichhardtii is elevated to the rank of species as R. leichhardtii, based on morphological evidence, and is lectotypified.

The future of endemic and threatened birds of the Amazon in the face of global climate change
The anthropogenic impacts on the environment, including deforestation and the escalating emissions of greenhouse gases, have significantly contributed to global climate change that can lead to alterations in ecosystems.

Land‐use intensification is filtering for species, able to cope with anthropogenic landscapes. This was assumed to result in functionally and phylogenetically homogenous communities, but a recent meta‐analysis could not confirm a consistent homogenization response to human pressure and raises open questions.

Climate limits distribution of species and shows considerable regional variability. However, studies relating climate variation to species population growth rates in different climatic zones while accounting for species' ecological traits are scarce.

A graduated nativeness definition for overcoming dilemmas and difficulties of vascular plant species
Nativeness is a concept central to biodiversity conservation and invasion biology, but there are several problems related to a classic binary nativeness definition. Dilemmas arise from the dynamic nature of species' distribution ranges on longer time scales, and difficulties arise in the application to smaller regions defined by arbitrary borders, and ...

Wasp communities associated with fig trees, Ficus spp., are a model system to investigate how local and regional processes shape biodiversity across large geographical ranges. We investigated the β‐diversity of fig wasp assemblages associated with three widely distributed Neotropical fig species – F. citrifolia, F. obtusifolia and F. pertusa – using 27

The Fate of Alpine Species in the Face of Climate Change: A Biogeographic Perspective [PDF]
Will global climate change affect the spatial distribution and abundance of biodiversity along mountains equally? The elevational gradients inherent as one moves up a mountain slope help define the many biological patterns that emerge as key indicators ...
