SmartProbe: a bioimpedance sensing system for head and neck cancer tissue detection

Physiological Measurement, 2020
Objectives: This study presents SmartProbe, an electrical bioimpedance (EBI) sensing system based on a concentric needle electrode (CNE). The system allows the use of commercial CNEs for accurate EBI measurement, and was specially developed for in-vivo ...

Electrical Bioimpedance-Controlled Surgical Instrumentation

IEEE Transactions on Biomedical Circuits and Systems, 2015
A bioimpedance-controlled concept for bone cement milling during revision total hip replacement is presented. Normally, the surgeon manually removes bone cement using a hammer and chisel. However, this procedure is relatively rough and unintended harm may occur to tissue at any time.

Optimal designs for studying bioimpedance

Physiological Measurement, 2007
D-optimal designs for nonlinear fixed and mixed effects models are explored, and the theory is applied to the measurement and analysis of bioelectrical impedance. Bioimpedance is known to vary more at extreme frequencies than others. D-optimal designs that account for this variation, and also possible mis-specification of initial parameter estimates ...

Bioimpedance Spectroscopy in Healthy Children

Journal of Clinical Engineering, 2016
Prediction equations compromise the usefulness of bioimpedance spectroscopy (BIS) in children. This preliminary study explored the possibility of establishing reference curves in children, based on BIS-modeled data and/or resistance index (RI) values. In addition, the precision of repeated measurements was calculated.

Microprocessor Controlled Bioimpedance Measurements

Proceedings of the Annual International Conference of the IEEE Engineering in Medicine and Biology Society, 1992
This paper describes the measurements made possible by using microprocessor-control to operate a Solartron 1260 Impedance Analyzer. Calibration experiments were able to demonstrate that an apparent two time-constant impedance measurement is really only a one time-constant system.

Whole Body – Single Frequency Bioimpedance

2005
The postdialysis target weight is determined as the lowest weight a patient can tolerate without intradialytic symptoms or hypotension. Patterns of electrical properties of tissues allow a direct monitoring of fluid status without the need of the body weight.Whole body impedance is measured from skin electrodes on hand and foot. Impedance (Z vector) is

Bioimpedance Measurement of Extracellular Water

Journal of Applied Physiology, 1999
To the Editor : The paper by Matthie and others ([1][1]) purports to demonstrate the superiority of the Xitron multifrequency bioimpedance analyzer over single-frequency bioimpedance for measurement of extracellular water (ECW).

Bioimpedance or anthropometry?

European journal of clinical nutrition, 1989
The ability of bioimpedance (BIA) to predict body composition in comparison with anthropometric measurements (weight and height) was assessed on three groups of adult young women (n = 99) and one group of adult young men (n = 49). Body fat (BF) and fat-free mass (FFM) by densitometry were used as the reference data.

Bioimpedance in the Pacemaker Clinic

AACN Clinical Issues: Advanced Practice in Acute and Critical Care, 1999
Thoracic electrical bioimpedance (TEB) provides a rapid, accurate, cost-effective method of optimizing the atrioventricular delay in dual-chamber pacemakers. In addition to measurements of cardiac output, TEB provides other hemodynamic indices such as systolic time interval, left cardiac work index, and end diastolic index.

[Thoracic electric bioimpedance].

Casopis lekaru ceskych, 1996
So far there was, no simple non-invasive method for the assessment of the minute. Rheoplethysmographic methods developed in the seventies did not give reliable results. The submitted paper presents a new quantitative rheople-thysmographic method - thoracic electric bioimpedance.
